Questions & Answers

Can this be used to extend waterline?

I'm getting new bathroom countertop, faucet and sink. I'm putting the faucet to the side of the sink, not the traditional way at the back of the sink. In case the hot/cold supply lines of the faucet are not long enough to reach the valves, can I use this to extend the supply lines? In the specs diagram -- 1-½" Max at the base of the faucet, at the end of supply line is ½" IPS Connections. Thank you.
Asked by: HouseCat
No, you'll just need to obtain the proper lenght for each supply. I had this situation on a custom vanity. Used a 16" for hot and a 24" for cold. Hope this helps.

Are these as sturdy and long lasting as the braided steel ones?

I don't want to end up replacing these again within a couple of years.
Asked by: Strebor
I'm going to only guess that the stainless steel braided ones would be more resistant to damage and would certainly have more strength if water pressure was extremely high or the hose is exposed to sharp objects while in use. But I seriously doubt the water pressure would ever be so high as to burst either polymer or stainless lines anyway, also since these are usually under cabinets, there should be very little chance of becoming damaged by sharp objects. I've used these for years and have yet to have any problems. Fast and simple to hook-up, the price is nice, quality is very good, hoses have been strong and durable for all my uses so far.

Kohler P15171

I have this kitchen faucet. What is the size compression pipe I should get. it shays 3/8" flex. Does that mean both ends should be 3/8"
Asked by: sam
Sam, Thank you for your question. To be able to help you find the right faucet connector we would need to get more details on your application. We recommend you contact the manufacturer of the faucet (Kohler) first to determine the type and size of the connection from this model of the faucet to the connector. Once you know the connection to the faucet and can also confirm the type and size of the connection to your supply stop, please call us at 877-272-7755 and our Product Experts will help you find the right flexible connector.

Pros: Flexibility made the installation easy, work well with existing copper fittings and either hot/cold waterline, sturdy with no leaks or kinks, reliable, good quality as described, the best retail price. Cons: no problem so far Tips: Lubricate the threads with a Silicone Faucet Grease or Waterproof Grease so it is easier and smoother to tighten up the compression fitting and don't over tighten the compression nut. Because a compression fitting is sealed at the ferrule, not at the threads, over tightening the compression nut would deform the ferrule, causing leaks. You can always tighten it more if you under tightened it, but once you over tighten, you have to get a new ferrule or new connector.

I was actually going to return the pair due to the new faucet hookup requiring about a 12" long faucet connector rather than a 16" long one as needed with my original recessed faucet. However, this ended up working to my advantage since the hot and cold hookups are reversed in my downstairs half bath. The additional length allowed me to right this wrong, something that had been bugging me for quite some time.

When I leak checked after hookup, both leaked at the hose above the 3/8 in fitting. The leaks had nothing to do with the tightness of the fitting. I went to Lowe's and purchased a different brand that worked perfectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 8 out of 26 supply lines leaked over time I purchased 26 of these supply lines in various lengths at Home Depot when we built our new house, thinking they were a premium product. I had 3 of them leak within 24 hours of installing, and took them back for replacements. I had another one leak after 3 months in an upstairs bathroom which we discovered when the laundry room ceiling started dripping. I replaced that one. We agonized over whether to change out the whole house, but after checking 26 of them regularly for a couple months and having no further leaks, decided it was just a few bad apples. Now, a year after the initial installation, we discovered water damage on our dining room ceiling from another upstairs sink, and when checking the whole house again, I found 4 more with slow drips. All 8 leakers failed at the crimp joint between the braided steel hose and upper fitting. At this point, I'm changing out the whole house to the simple grey plastic supply lines. So much for a premium product!
