I'm a home repair specialist and on occasion I moonlight as a home emergency responder. Where my clients used to pay outrageous rates for a plumbing company to come out to clean out their clogs and trouble shoot their plumbing, they call me.
As another review stated, this snake is light duty and will perform well for most clogs locally found in your system. If you are going to venture into clearing a main ... well, this tool is not designed to deal with it or heavy root problem. Stay away or work slow and patiently if, there's no other choice. Don't destroy your investment or frustrate yourself by using this unit irresponsibly.
As for the good stuff, if you're a homeowner, you're going to love this toy. It has a good design, its light in weight, it comes with all the tips you will ever need and will last you, if you take care of it.
As always, if you run into something you're not sure about, call in support.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Danny Great Investment!
I was very skeptical about this purchase and had mowed it over for a couple weeks, I was worried about getting what I hoped for which was a sturdy work horse for the smaller drains, I was very surprised by how well this piece of equipment worked, it came completely assembled and the directions for using it was very straight forward. It saved me a lot of work in a short period of time. I thought I was going to be cutting out and replacing my 11/2 drain lines.

The machine worked just fine for my bathroom and even turned a corner in an 1 1/4" pipe tee with the spiral wire attachment. Instead of going from the roof vent, I opted to go through the sink drain and it worked fine that way. Saved me the trouble and slight danger of getting that unit on the roof, although the unit it isn't heavy at all. I use to use the hand operated snake and I can say the drum machine saved me a lot of extra effort. Also saved a lot of perspiration and a few words of frustration too! The air operated foot pedal thing didn't work for me, but I still love this unit and will investigate why the pedal doesn't work as it should. I think it is an air leak in the line somewhere since the pedal is pneumatic instead of hard wired, for safety's sake. If you ever called a plumber and spent over $280 just for the visit, then this unit will pay for itself the first time.

I have had a recurrent problem with small tree roots that invade my ain sewer line between the house and the street. Unfortunately there is no clean out that is handy to get to this problem and it has cost me about $200 a crack to get a rooter to come out and snake this out through the 4" stack vent on my roof. This litte item worked perfectly on the job. I was on the roof for about 15 minutes and the drain was clear. I now know I can save some money in the future by using this to solve the plumbing issues that come with a 50 year old home. Glad I got it and I would recommend it to anyone with light duty needs. I would not try to cut through big roots, but the fine ones in my sewer line were no problem.

I failed to reach a clog in my kitchen drain with a 25 foot hand snake. The last time I called a plumber for drain cleaning, the charge was $129.50. I'm a DIY person as much as possible, so I needed a different solution. This is one of the few options to reach 50 feet, so, though rather expensive, I went for it. I was surprised at how heavy this tool is. The frame is sturdy metal; the drum is heavy duty plastic, the cable is certainly beefier than the hand snake. The drill motor looks like, well, a drill, but one with more torque than your typical drill/driver. The cutting attachments fit securely and shouldn't accidentally come off as long as the lock washer was used when it was attached. I fed the cable down the drain via an access point and seemed to encounter two separate clogs. Judicious use of the motor at those points allowed me to bore through the stoppage. Success! This is not the professional heavy-weight drain cleaner, but it's a big step up from a hand snake. It's half paid for now, and the next tough clog I clear will also clear the books. If I'd bought this 6 months ago, it would be paid for by now. Don't abuse it and it will last many years. It would be a much better value if it was $50 to $75 cheaper.
