I used it to clear a 2" drain from a kitchen and laundry room and it turned out to need the full 50' to reach the clog. The machine doesn't weigh a lot, and it's easy to set up. I was a little skeptical about the pneumatic switch, but it worked fine and turned out to be very convenient. I was kneeling next to a wall clean-out and used my knee to actuate the switch which was easy and comfortable. I was also concerned that the 5/16" cable might be a bit light for a power auger, but it was fine. I don't know why some people have kinking problems unless they're running the thing too fast. Otherwise, if the cable is more than a few feet into the drain I think there's enough warning to just stop the motor.
What could stand some improvement is the drill motor. I found it to have adequate power, but at the lowest setting of the speed control it won't start rotating the drum. I had to increase the speed setting to get it to start and when it would start reliably it was turning just about as fast as I'd want to run it. The instructions could use some work, specifically about the heads. Which head for what use? Are there any limitation on the size of pipe? Specifically, will the side cutter head be able to pass through a 90 degree elbow of, say, the 2" pipe I was clearing? I would've liked to use it to scrape the walls of the pipe, but the drain runs under the slab and jamming a cutter in the drain would be a very expensive disaster so I didn't use it. BTW, the demo video is good, but again, some info about the heads would be very helpful. And for other users, this unit is made by Cobra (Lowe's sells the same machine at the same price under the Cobra brand). I point that out only because the Cobra website has a bit more information and also has replacement parts available. Finally, it'd be nice if a larger diameter spring head were available. For a hair clog, the spring heads work best but if the pipe is 2" or larger the head that's included is a bit small. All in all a good machine and I think the power is a good match for the cable size. Incidentally, the manufacturer clearly states that this machine is not suitable for cutting roots. It might work for roots if they aren't too large, but I'd suggest if roots are your problem, either rent or buy a larger machine. All in all, I'm happy with it and it's WAY easier to use than the smaller hand-crank type augers.

As the owner of more then 50 properties I find we always need a machine to save the $350 bill from the drain companies. Make sure you wear leather gloves and googles would be nice. You can adjust the speed while the machine is running which is very helpful not allowing to run to fast or slow. The foot switch works well and the cutting heads do the job intended. Make SURE YOU DO NOT LOOSE THE LOCK WASHER that holds the screw in tight which holds the cutting heads or you will be sorry. I repeat do not run the machine without the lock washer. If you loose it then go buy a new one. The best part is the weight and size which is very easy to handle. You do need to be careful not to kink the cable so TAKE YOUR TIME, and if it starts to kink then back it off and start again. Kinking the cable is telling you that you are working the machine to hard. I hear that a 1/2' cable will work and will try and find one for the future. Great machine that saves time and money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CB Worked as advertised, easy to use.
I have to thank Roto Rooter for calling and missing their scheduled appt. We had them at the house one other time and as I watched the technician using a similar auger (obviously a more expensive version but same concept) it did not seem too complicated but was hesitant to try it myself. Because they could not make it this time I did some research on this tool and decided to give it a try. Within an hour of getting home from Home Depot my drain was running like new. Easy to use, and the cable and attachmeets seem to be durable and very high quality. Not sure how long attached drill will last but for home use that won't occur all that often this is worth the money. It will more than pay for itself in less than 2 visits from a plumbing service.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by UnhappyOnASunday Product was broken when I opened the box
On top of the box it states that you cannot return to the store if it is opened or used. As soon as I opened the box it was easy to see the plastic locking collar for the motor was broken. I would think that the person packing the box could have seen the broken collar.

This lil monster did a great job. Cost me only a few dollars more than if I had called a plumber. I know this is not the last time it will see action. Eay to use and like the variable speed of the drill. Like that it came with all the cutting tips.

Thought getting this more expensive model would be worth it. Cable snapped during first use on bathtub drain. Cable went through strong work gloves into hand. Non-returnable. Not impressed.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Chuck Light, Easy to be carried to roof top and operated. Save time, save money.
This cable drum machine is light enough for me (my weight is 172 lbs) to carry onto the roof top of my one story house. I had a "heavy duty" clog, so I needed to clear it from the main rooftop vent. I used all tips, one by one, they worked very well. This machine is operated by a drill type that is placed at the back of the drum; so if you know how to use any electric drill(s), you can operate this machine easily. Everything is included, except a pair of gloves and a screw driver. Just do it slowly and place the machine near the vent pipe (I placed the machine about 2 feet from the pipe). I was able to completely clear the clog within 40 minutes or so. By the way, the machine that I have was made in China, not in the USA.
