I have to add my commedation to the designer of this product. It was hooked up , inserted in the drain, and when the water was turned on, the drain cleared within about 3 seconds. I had used a snake and plungers with no effect, so It took another 30 seconds to realize what had happened so quickly!

Not really sure how long it took to work, I it run a whole minute for good measure, then turned off the water and by the time I got back the cleanout was slurping dry as it all flowed to the sewer main. Less than an hour spent counting to the store and back, and our drains work again.

Bought one of these 20 years ago and used it in my construction business to unclog numerous clogs in pipes until age caused the bladder to recently burst. It was the slightly smaller model that fit into the larger drain bends much more easily. Replaced it with the newer, larger bladder listed above and had the first one burst within 5 minutes of using it. Returned to Home Depot to exchange it and had the second one burst withing the first minute. Replaced the second one with the same result. Continued to replace them with no luck until the local Home Depot no longer had new bladders to replace them with and had to get a refund instead. The Quality of these bladders are far below the standards they once used to be. I wouldn't waste my money on buying one of these any longer although, if you do decide to buy one, I would find the nearest Harbor Freight and purchase it there. They are sold there at half the price of Home Depot so you are able to buy two at the price of one in case of the rupture problem they seem to have now. The concept of the bladder is sound and has been proven to work for me an untold number of times. I only wish they were made with the same care and consideration that they were 20 years ago.

Once a year, on average, we end up with roots clogging the sewer drain. Inevitably, it's usually around the holidays. This year it was New Year's Eve. I first purchased the auger that connects to a power drill for $39.99; after the first attempt it grabbed the roots but bent the auger line. The bend ended up making the auger worthless because it caused it to twist itself repeatedly.
So, back to Home Depot for the 3rd time.....
I purchased the large drain bladder for $19.99 and was admittedly skeptical, but decided I was without any other option. A plumber was going to charge an additional $180 to come out tonight. I connected the bladder to the hose, inserted it down clean out line, turned on the faucet, and within 30 seconds the line was clear. Unbelievably impressed. I cannot believe how easy this was. I'm sure the line will need a good clean out by a plumber, but this product saved us in a pinch. I highly recommend it!

Kids dropped lots of trash down our sewer cleanout. Our whole house will backup and we'll call the county jet truck to shoot water down the cleanout and get us going again. This bladder works almost as well for clearing the buildup that accumulates around the trash so we can flush for a few weeks until we clog again. It won't necessarily push a toy truck tire down the line, but it will clear out the clumps of toilet paper that accumulate around it.
The bladder won't clear some obstructions a snake with a blade can, but it can get you flowing again. It's no substitute for digging out bad pipe, but it's the best tool I have being a tenant and not a plumber.
If you're using this bladder, odds are you've got a big problem that only digging or lucky snaking can fix, but the bladder can keep you limping along, treating the symptom of the problem of obstructions in the pipe.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AlexS Worked on 4 inch waste line. I recommend using with a plastic shutoff valve and bucket
Toilet was clogged and plunger didn't work. Pulled toilet and tried the auger (snake). Auger failed to clear the line. I suspect TP was piling up in the line causing water to back up and create a bubble up to the flange.
Purchased this and and attached a plastic valve to control the water flow. The line pressurized and after 10 seconds I heard the line clear and the water flush. Great product.

Had a guy come out a few weeks ago to clear a clog in my sewer line. Roots are in the line so i figured eventually it will clog again maybe in a year. Then my kids flushed half a pack of flushable wipes down the toilet yesterday which clogged the sewer pipe again. I didn't want to have to pay for a guy to come out again so I bought the bladder. I followed the directions and when I turned the water on I could hear the pipe filling with water. Then it produced enough pressure to blow the clog free. I will continue to use this until the pipe has to get replaced.

Never written a review about a product before, but just had to express that this product worked like a champ! Had a clog on a saturday night and I knew I would be charged a premium from the plumber having to come on the weekend... Went on-line to see what renting a roto rooter would be and fortunately all the places that rented them were not open on Sunday's... Found this product and read everyone's review (which were spot on, thxs!) and figured it would be worth the price to give it a go... It took me longer to figure out the self check-out screens at the store than it did to clear the clog!!!
