Answer:
I purchased the stem remover and the instructions made it a quick and easy job. I didn't have to quess what I was doing. You will need to replace the entire stem if the portion where the screw is located is broken. Be sure to remove the clip that holds the stem before trying to pull it out. Otherwise it will be impossible to remove without damaging the entire fixture.

Mixet was widely used in older homes I do this on a regular basis, when dealing with seniors, changing out the sticky old cartridge with a new one and its night and day difference. I can’t link my video on Youtube that shows this install. From start to finish it will take you no more than 30 minutes taking your time. Just search for How to install Mixet cartridge MXT07 and you should find many on the install. All you need are a few basic tools. Adjustable wrench, pliers or vise grips, Philips screw driver, some plumber’s grease. You too can do this. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Had to have Original valve stem died, so I had to replace. Instructions ARE included, cardboard insert, you must unfold to find bilingual directions. No tool needed to remove old stem, unscrew retainer & turn water back on, briefly, pops right out. I felt the need to give it a 5 rating since a couple of reviews were so harsh on product. Straight forward installation, it came with a couple of extra washers that the old one didn't have, so I wasn't real sure if I should use them. I did, no problem. Wasn't sure how 2 grade on quality since it's all of 1 day old. November 19, 2015
