27 HP Commercial Turf Series Vertical Gas Engine is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 594.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable example of Briggs and Stratton value My wife's favorite , a 1971 Gilson S14 riding tractor has always had a B&S one cylinder cast iron engine. The current 16HP engine is more than 20 years old and runs great. Since then, B&S engineers have worked tirelessly to achieve continuously-improved engines with advanced features. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ran good for 4 years. =( I purchased a new mower with a Briggs and Stratton 19.5hp motor on it about 4 years ago. I really liked it until one day the motor would not turn over. The compression release mechanism on the cam shaft had broken into about 5 pieces inside the motor. This is the first time I have ever had to pull a motor apart on any of my mowers. I wish it would have lasted longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from History of Reliability I bought my B&S powered mower a month ago, and won't use it until May. I did verify the machine was operational. The engine initial startup was rapid and as expected. I bought a B&S powered product based on 50+ years of personal experience with B&S engines and I have never been disappointed with any of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best sales staff I have 3 Briggs V-Twin motors on 3 different devices that are 6 months to 10 years old and all 3 are running fine. Needless to say, I've had to have some service along the way. What sells me on Briggs & Stratton is that service... and I could go on... Anson Stelmak My. Spokane, WA
