We feel confident that we will not be able to run it at night, but we may be able to get away with a few hours in the afternoon on a hot day to run the A/C and cool down the trailer for sleeping. I could not find a db rating anywhere in our owner's manual. Based on the way ours runs, I would say that you will definitely hear the motor in your video's audio. Other than the noise level, it starts right up and does exactly what it's supposed to do. We were able to run a 13,500 btu A/C unit, the pump, the lights, the radio and a television at the same time. We did not push it any further than that, but it is possible it can handle a bit more of a load. Read Less

Answer:
Should be fine. It has a voltage regulator. Very reliable. Runs about 14-15 hours on a tank of unleaded gas (4.5 gallon). It does not have electric start but starts on 1-2 pulls, every time. Put a fuel filter on it as soon as you take it out of the box and you'll minimize down time. Maybe more power than you need but it would also run other items at same time like a fridge and a small air conditioner.

My understanding is that you must first install a "transition switch". I checked out pricing at THD and it looks like they run about $500. It would probably cost another $500 to have an electrician install one for you.

I believe you would likely want a unit with at least 6,000 or 7,000 watts to run a home, but this little guy could manage 1, maybe 2 refrigerators and some lights and tv. You would probably have to do some selective rotations if you want to run a microwave or your oven, i.e., unplug the fridge before you turn on anything that requires higher wattage to run. Read Less

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst buy I used mine for about 10 hours every other weekend to work with a 2.5 gl compressor, bought it in October 2015 and broke down on Feb 2016. Home Depot won't do anything to help. Didn't even mention about manufacturer warranty or nothing. so now is just another piece of junk in my garage. March 4, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by it does the job This is my second one of these in the past 3 years. The major downside to them is they do not have an hour meter for maintenance reasons. I installed one on both gen sets. It powers my travel trailer on job sites along with all needed power tools. The first one last about 2 years and had over 14,000 hours before the carb broke. It was an easy exchange at local home depot. I have it running 24 hours a day for about 42 weeks a year. The second one has over 400 hours already and it does not handle the load like the first one. They are VERY loud. when this one finally lets go which I believe will be soon I will go with a different brand due to the noise. B&S does not list a decibel reason and I'm sure its because the decibel rating at 40 feet is over 80. also the second one which was purchase in January 2016 dies not have GFCI outlets where the first one did. It does consume fuel pretty fast even at 50% duty. For the price its not bad just don't expect your neighbors to be happy with you when camping. some of the things B&S should make are hour meter, fuel filter, more outlets, noise level decrees, and better fasteners (it will literally rattle its self apart if you don't keep an eye on it) and better wiring covering. the wires coming out of the generator side have a rubber cover and it will rot away pretty fast. When mounted on a trailer or truck it will rattle your brain. The carb is built very poor(butterfly cam is brass and due to the extreme vibration of the unit the linkage will literally wear the cam out and fall off. this might not sound like a big deal but it is because when it does happen as it did to me the rpms will go very high and cause damage to electrical stuff being used. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great purchase I've had this about 2-3 weeks now. Needed to replace a competitors small generator for our off grid cabin for daily use. We already own a larger B&S generator for powering our larger power tools and well but for our daily use we needed a small one that didn't require a lot of gas. We run it early in the morning for breakfast and coffee and in the evening if the weather prevented our solar panels from adequately charging. Runs quietly and is great on gas. Powers everything we need without a problem. Great addition to our redundant power system. July 23, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good! Easy to assemble, directions are accurate other than a slight change in the wheel bushings. Started on first pull! February 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what they say it can! Had it assembled in about 4 hours with basic hand tools. Followed starting instructions which were (1) pour in provided oil (2) fill gas tank (3) turn ignition switch on (4) turn fuel stopcock to "on" position (5) set choke control to full choke (6) pull starter cord with one full motion. GENERATOR STARTED ON FIRST PULL!!! Use it to power a 12,500 BTU camper A/C unit. Does a great job under full load of A/C unit with voltage holding steady at 120 VAC. August 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problems Briggs and Stratton? I bought this unit coming up on two years ago. It has been used a total of 6 times for an approximate usage of 80 hours total. It appears that a catastrophic internal failure has happened. The motor spins too freely, oil on the breather filter and no compression. It has been used very lightly (looks brand new) and the fuel has always been drained when stored for extended periods of time and oil changed. I really like this unit and believe that I got one that had some flaws coming from the manufacturer and am hoping Briggs and Stratton will make it right. July 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Starts on first pull every time Bought this generator to support our motorhome. Has run faultlessly for about 75 hours and 50 starts. Starts on the first pull every time. It would be nice if it had an hour meter. It is not what I would call quiet, but it is about like having a lawn mower running next door. With the windows closed it is not objectionalbe inside.
