Customer Questions & Answers

how loud is the generator? can i use it shooting film or its too loud?

Asked by: john
We just bought this unit to take camping as a backup for our travel trailer. It is quite loud and we are very concerned that it may bother other campers any closer than 40 ft. away. We feel confident that we will not be able to run it at night, but we may be able to get away with a few hours in the afternoon on a hot day to run the A/C and cool down the trailer for sleeping. I could not find a db rating anywhere in our owner's manual. Based on the way ours runs, I would say that you will definitely hear the motor in your video's audio. Other than the noise level, it starts right up and does exactly what it's supposed to do. We were able to run a 13,500 btu A/C unit, the pump, the lights, the radio and a television at the same time. We did not push it any further than that, but it is possible it can handle a bit more of a load.

Is this a backup generator for medical equipment

person is hooked up to a respirator and other medical devices
Asked by: stan
Should be fine. It has a voltage regulator. Very reliable. Runs about 14-15 hours on a tank of unleaded gas (4.5 gallon). It does not have electric start but starts on 1-2 pulls, every time. Put a fuel filter on it as soon as you take it out of the box and you'll minimize down time. Maybe more power than you need but it would also run other items at same time like a fridge and a small air conditioner.

3,500-Watt Gasoline Powered Portable Generator is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad I bought this I bought mine about 5 years ago (?). It is an 030438, and was the last one at Home Depot. I've only used it once, about 3 years ago, for 36 hours, and it worked great. When I finished with it, I ran the gas out and stuck it in my shed, which is fairly dry (no water running on contents, but not air-tight by a long shot!) We're supposed to get ice this weekend. I got the generator out, put gas in it, and by gosh, it started on the first pull. I'm a 62 year old woman and have pretty good arm strength, but not great. I am SO happy with this. It will run my pellet stove, chargers, and a coffee maker. I don't know exactly what I can run, because I haven't tried much more - as long as I have heat, charged up electronics, and coffee, I can hold out for a few days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All my research has paid off! This is a simple, no frills generator with lots of power that I am using for camping, or the occasional power outage. My budget was $400. Two 110 outlets and a 3 prong 10 amp connector. I hooked up my radio, ½ drill and ran it at full speed while it was charging my camp trailer batteries. It didn’t matter; it didn’t slow down at all. The sound is equivalent to a lawnmower, maybe a little less but I bout a 50ft 10 amp extension cord. There are a lot of generators in the $400 range that have more features, but if you want quality, look no further than Briggs & Stratton. My friend came over and was envious of the wheels and handle, overall look, and easy start. His generator is also heavy, and at times, he has to load it in the back of his truck. Being a private contractor and moving it around without the wheels and handles can be tough for him. The only negative comment I would make is Home Depot didn’t offer to help me load it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! Easy to assemble, directions are accurate other than a slight change in the wheel bushings. Started on first pull!
