How does it start?

Asked by: Karen
Turn on the fuel valve, push the choke lever to the choke position, flip the toggle switch to ON, and pull start the engine with the pull cord.

where can get replacement brushes and how long do I have to wait to get them

I had another generator and the brushes wore out I couldn't find any locally and ordered them online overnight shipping and I didn't get them and had to buy another generator so I could finish the job I was working on the two days wasted and the new generator are all the profit. I don't want to buy some and try to keep up with them . That's why I'm thinking about getting 4 new generator's for my service trucks
Asked by: Grizz
Sorry for the poor experience, the time that the parts are in stock locally, or when you order them, it all depends on different conditions, I would say use your best judgement, when looking for the part locally, or when purchasing online.

Does it have Low oil shutoff protection?

Asked by: jlnclimbs
I would reference the model and revision number of the generator with a Home Depot store associate, some models are equipped with shut off protection, and some do not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good generator for all around use but it's loud. I bought the California version and have had no trouble at all with it. It started right up and has never faltered while running. I use it mainly for our travel trailer when camping and it has enough power to run everything we need it to run including the A/C if we're careful about what else is on. My only complaint would be the sound, it's very loud and isn't set up to be able to add a muffler to quiet it down. I wasn't expecting whisper quiet when I bought it but I didn't expect it to be as loud as it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for emergency use. Purchased for use during extended power outages to keep freezer and refrigerator cold and to charge batteries. The Briggs and Stratton 3500-watt generator is comparable to many of the portable units i used for work, and is a good value. It would be more flexible if there was a 240 volt outlet for running pumps, but this isn't a deal killer. It assembled easily, with clear instructions. After filling the crankcase with the supplied break-in oil, adding stabilizer to several cans of gasoline and filling the tank, the engine fired within three pulls of the rope starter. The only down side of the generator is that it is a 3600 rpm unit, and is noisy. Too noisy to allow to run in close proximity to neighbors after dark, or in a campground situation, without additional sound dampening. Other than that the generator functioned normally and provided sufficient power for my needs. The included wheel and handle kit allow it to be moved around the property without lifting, a definite advantage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This Unit is not for camping! Fired this Generator up yesterday.....Louder than my Lawnmower. Definately not good for camping, Decible level not listed on specs. Manufacturer will not disclose Decible level to public. Will be returning this unit to the dealer today!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware California buyers Based on the 5 star rating for the 3500 model 30466 at $469 I went to my usual HD store in California to check it out. Instead they only have the 3500 model 030550 for $499 since it meets the CARB [Cal Air Resources Board] emission rules and the 30466 does not. Even though it has not been rated on line, I bought model 030550, assembled it and could not get it to start, even after a half hour phone call with a very cooperative Briggs Stratton tech guy. My local HD store confirmed it would not start and immediately refunded my purchase price. I do not know if this is a problem for all the 030550 CARB models or I just got a bad one

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too NOISY and should have auto start I have had this unit for a month and I wish I could return it without so much hassle. It runs fine but, is SO LOUD you cannot carry a conversation. I have a mobile detailing service and I use it religiously. But, having to run it in a parking structure is almost impossible because of it's noise level. Wish it had auto start, also. For the price it should be included.
