Rated 4 out of 5 by Starts immediately... but loud Ok - reviewed every 6K to 10K portable I could find out there - came down to one thing... the "brand" Briggs & Stratton. I know, I know... it's made in China - but would guess it's all designed here in the USA, a lot like Apple Computer. All designed in USA, CA... but made in China. Overall this thing is a beast... it really puts out. It's heavy... so be prepared to not want to move it too much. When I want to start it ... turn the key... in 2 cycles this thing runs... every time. Seems to be extremely reliable which is what I wanted. PROS: Reliable... starts every time in under 5 seconds Parts: I'm assuming parts are easy to get for a B&S generator Easy: There is nothing too this CONS: Loud: they really need to do something about this... maybe sell and "add on" that muffles it more. Trust me, everyone would buy it Heavy: Yep... this is a beast... but very well designed handle and really very easy to move - but heavy Recommendation: 4 Stars - I give it 4 stars out of 5. If they got rid of the noise and added a "fix it at home" manual with it... it would be 5 out of 5. - I would recommend this over any others. It's easily bought at a Home Depot - where I got mine... you will need a truck to get it home and some strong gents to get it to the ground to assemble (easy... good instructions) - I looked at a diesel generator... the problem is what do I do with the diesel fuel after 6 months to a year when I need to "refresh". I didn't own a diesel truck or anything like that... so gasoline is my natural choice... recycle old fuel into my car... gets some fresh gas and store for another 6 months. Addendum Also - I did a lot of research on how to add an outside electrical line into to my electrical box... it's really very easy - but it's not really advertised anywhere - so you have to research how to. On YouTube you see a lot - I installed my 30 amp line in a day so now all i do is move my generator outside, turn the key, and I have the power I need going into my house... it works and you can do it too November 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Reliable I use this for emergency power in my residence. I make sure to start is twice a year and put a load on the output. It starts with a touch of the key and is much quieter than friend's emergency generators. I am very happy with this unit. August 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with with my B&S 7500 Elite Series I bought the B&S 7500 Elite Series after reading a very favorable review from Consumer Reports and have not been disappointed. The assembly of the Generator was simple and the operator instructions are easy to follow. I bought the generator just in time, as we lost power the next day for 3 hrs. The generator performed perfectly. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use I bought this last year after Sandy hit us. Fortunately, I never had to use it since I bought it. I did, however, start it up a few times using the built-in automatic starter. Worked like a charm. Pull the choke out slightly, hit the starter button and BINGO, it started right up each time. Rated 5 out of 5 by Setup review only Bought this gen this morning, not because of an emergency but because we budgeted to add one this year and today was the day. It's heavy... Home Depot was happy to help me get it in the van, gravity helped me unload it when I got home. You'll probably want an extra set of hands there as well. Setup was incredibly simple. Two wheels to bolt on, not a bunch of baggies of little parts to weed through, the axles had their own washers/nuts already on... just take them off, slide the wheel on, and put the washers/nuts right back where they came from. Instructions give the sizes for ratchet needed but I just used crescent wrenches. Wheels and front end stand took 5 minutes to install. Next you have to connect the negative terminal on the battery to complete the circuit (if you want to use the electric start feature) - this took 60 seconds. Finally add oil and fuel. Oil is included in the box. Instructions say a funnel is optional... due to the angle of the oil port and location of the tire, I couldn't do it without a funnel because I was spilling oil. Get a funnel or makeshift one. 15 minutes after cutting open the box I was turning the key and the engine immediately cranked up and ran smooth. Not a single complaint. It's not even as loud as I was expecting for this big of a gen. Can't comment on power or durability yet, but I trust the Briggs & Straton brand and expect no abnormal issues. If it fails when I end up needing, I will re-review it. I'm happy with this purchase and am ready for storm season. January 17, 2013
