7,500-Watt Gasoline Powered Portable Generator with Briggs Engine is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTELY RELIABLE! I purchased this unit in the days following the Hurricane Sandy aftermath. My Briggs & Stratton Elite Series 7500 performs flawlessly now, four years later, as it did the first day out of the box. Starts up the first time, every time. Maintenance is next to zero. I have found this unit to be completely reliable. I have been careful to ensure to use fuel stabilizers in an effort to prevent any fuel related problems and can honestly report not a single hiccup since day one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Setup review only Bought this gen this morning, not because of an emergency but because we budgeted to add one this year and today was the day. It's heavy... Home Depot was happy to help me get it in the van, gravity helped me unload it when I got home. You'll probably want an extra set of hands there as well. Setup was incredibly simple. Two wheels to bolt on, not a bunch of baggies of little parts to weed through, the axles had their own washers/nuts already on... just take them off, slide the wheel on, and put the washers/nuts right back where they came from. Instructions give the sizes for ratchet needed but I just used crescent wrenches. Wheels and front end stand took 5 minutes to install. Next you have to connect the negative terminal on the battery to complete the circuit (if you want to use the electric start feature) - this took 60 seconds. Finally add oil and fuel. Oil is included in the box. Instructions say a funnel is optional... due to the angle of the oil port and location of the tire, I couldn't do it without a funnel because I was spilling oil. Get a funnel or makeshift one. 15 minutes after cutting open the box I was turning the key and the engine immediately cranked up and ran smooth. Not a single complaint. It's not even as loud as I was expecting for this big of a gen. Can't comment on power or durability yet, but I trust the Briggs & Straton brand and expect no abnormal issues. If it fails when I end up needing, I will re-review it. I'm happy with this purchase and am ready for storm season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent portable generator I purchased this generator November 2011. This unit is well built and nicely designed. Assembly took one person (me) about 20 minutes. I have been running this generator once per week for testing. Electric starts are almost instant. A key item for me was compatibilily with my APC Smart UPS 1500 backup systems that I use for my computers and aquariums (fish die with no power for heat and filtration). No problems running the three UPS units from the generator. The generator came with everything needed to setup the generator (battery, oil, etc.). I purchased a plastic cover to keep the generator clean (Classic Accessories Generator Cover size Large) and a 300 Lumen Forehead Bonfire head strapped light to work on the generator in the dark. I have not yet wired this generator into my house and this is the next step. For now I have run four 120v 12g extension cords thru a taped window as I don't want to try to figure this out in the dark in a snow storm. I have purchased a Reliance Controls Q410C to use as the transfer switch. Now to find a reasonbly priced electrician and this has been the biggest challenge. Overall I really like this generator and I recommend it to anyone who needs a solid 7500 watt generator under $1000.00.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the Price.. I just purchased a Toy Hauler, and wanted something big enough to run 2 full size Trailers back to back running everything including the air on both trailers when you need it! Does the job big time, a little noisy, but if you get out 2-40ft extension cords or 80 ft total to fit the 240/30amp outlet, you wont even notice it running..Just chain down to a tree and leave it.lol

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This new generator was unable to start due to a defective safety feature in the fuel system. The electric fuel safety shut-off was defective and would not allow the generator to start or run. There was a disconnected wire to the starter that would not allow the generator to start or run. There were three bolts less than finger-tight that would have damaged the generator had I not found and tightened them. I spent the extra money to buy a quality American brand and keep the jobs here at home. I am very disappointed with this generator [which is still in the shop being repaired] and the quality control at Briggs. Lot of money for a product with multiple problems right out of the box. I am hoping that it will last for years without any more drama, but don't have a good feeling with my purchase any longer. I won't be buying any more Briggs products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with with my B&S 7500 Elite Series I bought the B&S 7500 Elite Series after reading a very favorable review from Consumer Reports and have not been disappointed. The assembly of the Generator was simple and the operator instructions are easy to follow. I bought the generator just in time, as we lost power the next day for 3 hrs. The generator performed perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable I use this for emergency power in my residence. I make sure to start is twice a year and put a load on the output. It starts with a touch of the key and is much quieter than friend's emergency generators. I am very happy with this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought this last year after Sandy hit us. Fortunately, I never had to use it since I bought it. I did, however, start it up a few times using the built-in automatic starter. Worked like a charm. Pull the choke out slightly, hit the starter button and BINGO, it started right up each time.
