Customer Reviews

Elite Series 7,000-Watt Gasoline Powered Portable Generator is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Great Unit! I have had this unit for almost 3 years. Was bought for my new smaller down sized home I had to build after hurricane Rita. This unit runs my 2 ton central air, my whole house lights, tv, computer, freeezer and so on with out strain, can also use large microwave and a burner on my electric stove, will not run central heat. Easy to start with key, not bad at all on fuel, needs a quieter muffler. Hour meter and fuel gauge a great plus also enclosed battery float charger a great option. From a retired electrician this is a greeat unit for the money. Hve this unit on a transfer switch for my home, draw back is I have to go outside and start and stop unit, no remote start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good reliable machine Picked up this machine last year after the extended outages lasting 15 days on two occasions in 2011. Generator now has 57 hrs. of run time with 51 of those from storm Sandy outage lasting 3 days here in CT. I have a transfer switch in the house to power my main panel and manage loads manually by using just the essentials. This would be the fridge, oil fired boiler for heat and HW, microwave, lights, TV, computer and the occasional 240V cooktop burner. About 5kw +/- at most. Voltage remains steady in the 119-120V range thanks to the automatic voltage regulator with frequency at 61.75Hz. Engine always starts easily and fuel usage is as expected. When a load kicks in engine easily handles it, not so much when load releases as the engine revs up a bit although OK. Very happy with the purchase so far which includes one of the best 3yr. warranty periods available and change the 5W-30 oil at 40hr. intervals or yearly with no oil usage between changes thus far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The 7000 Watt Elite generator is a great machine for emergency power. I purchased it during hurricane Sandy and it ran flawlessly for 7 days. It provided power to 2 refrigerators, gas furnace blower motor, sump pump, a few lights, and television with cable box. My wife was even able to do a load of wash and dry it in the gas dryer. The controls are simple and I like the fuel guage and hour meter. The unit ran on a tank of gas for 12 hours. Several of the neighbors on my street were using Briggs and Stratton generators during Sandy too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great generator with a FATAL FLAW Seemingly a great generator, especially for the price BUT- After running only six hours all of the fins sheared off the plastic flywheel fan and were found lying in the bottom of the shroud. Nothing was able to get inside to cause this and nothing projected into them...they just came off for some reason. Can't use the machine without a cooling fan. I suspect every engine of this model has a defective fan since my shiny new generator has been in the shop for a month and a half with the blower fan on back order and no estimate from Briggs and Stratton as to when it will be available. I hope the replacement fan holds up better. I'll probably shy away from Briggs and Stratton products in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine Used it for running large paint sprayer for 3 days (non stop) and it was not only a flawless operation but it only burns a small amount of gas (few gal.) I will use it for whole house next. I could not ask for more and I am very picky. I was a Quality Assurance Specialist for 40 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Wait I puirchased my generator #030470 the day after I got power back from hurricane Sandy. I had an old Powermate generator with 2000 watts that just ran a heater and refrigerator when I was out of power. The reason I purchased the Briggs and Strattonj was because of the engine. My Powermate by Coleman with a Briggs engine was in a carton for almost 25 years with never being started. I had purchased it when I bought my house in case I lost power. Well 25 years later I took it out of the box, put oil and gasoline in it and it started on the first pull! I had chances to buy other generators at a much reduced price than I paid for this model but it was well worth it. I purchased this because I vowed I would never be out of power again! I received it 2 days after Christmas, took it out of the box, put on wells, added oil and gasoline and it started up on the first turn of the key! I now bought to kit so that I can power most of my house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Generator for your money I chose this generator for back up power for use during any season catastrophe. After researching many different brands I decided on this model because of the many positive reviews it received, Briggs & Stratton quality and the amount of power is what I needed to run my entire home. (my house requires around 7200 watts and 28 amps with everything running). I had a lock out switch and a dedicated 240 breaker installed on my panel instead of using a transfer switch which is a cheaper and more efficient way. after hookup i started bringing power into the house one breaker at a time and before long i had the entire house up and running for several hours without any problems I haven't used it during any storms yet (Thank God for that!) but I know that it's there for me when I need it and can more than easily handle the job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Christmas ice storm 2013 Ontario Canada Bought this unit some 24 months ago in case we had other power outage as we are in the country and at end of a line, so not a priotity for Hydro to fix us up. On 21st December 2013 we got an ice storm which left about 1.5 inch of ice on trees therefore many large limbs felt on power line. Trees in my town are ALL damaged severely. Connected the unit (reversed wiring) onto house after disconnecting from main. I am running the house and my neighbour furnace on this unit, no problems. Must say I am impressed with consumption whichis lower than quoted. Been running now for 75 hours straight. Other than short shut down to refuel. Can't wait for grid to be fixed though, woulr highly recommend this unit.  Dom Georgetown Ontario
