I thought these were lights to attach to the grill, but they're not. The lights are designed to attach to a metal utensil, but unless you're using a large one they'll slip around a lot.
I tested it on a standard size pair of kitchen tongs that I use while grilling and the light slipped all over.
I think a stronger magnet would be good.
Otherwise, the light is bright and they're easy to use. Twist on/off and you're good to go.
What's nice is these are small enough that you can use them under sinks, in your car hood, or any other place you may need to temporarily get a light while installing/repairing something. Their versatility is why I give them four stars instead of three.

These magnetic lights are pretty versatile for quite a few applications around the house and the garage. Each light takes three LR44 button batteries, which were included in the packaging. I'm expecting them to last for quite a while, since the lights are LEDs. The light is very bright, the magnet is fairly strong, and the ball joint holds its angle well. They do feel a bit cheap though, and the light is twist-on, which requires the use of two hands to turn on and off. A push button design might have been better, since it would let the user do it with one hand instead.
However, for some reason the lights can actually turn OFF when twisted too hard, or they'll intermittently flicker on/off depending on how the light itself is oriented. Backing them off a little bit seems to make the problem go away, so it doesn't seem to be a straightforward intermittent contact issue. This can be pretty frustrating since you can't just crank them all the way one direction to turn them on. I even tried pulling out the batteries and putting them back in, but it still didn't solve the issue.
The lights don't actually work well for their intended purpose with my BBQ grill set, since the handles are concave/convex metal, and the light just rocks back and forth on them. A grill set with flat handles would do a much better job of keeping the lights in place. As for alternate uses, I can see myself using these while working in tight spaces and under the hood on the car. They also detach from the magnetic mount and could be used as a key chain light, since they have a built-in D-ring on the back end.
The reason for only 3 stars is due to the major issues of the lights intermittently cutting out. They're handy to have around, but I'd rather pay a bit more and have a more reliable product.

The Brinkmann Magnetic Lights do not feel very durable, and the light they emit is not very bright. If I'm out on the deck at night grilling, they really don't do much to light up the food over the flames. And that's a problem, because their only purpose is to light up the food on my grill.
Additionally, because these lights are designed to attach to metal BBQ tools, it means they get pretty darn close to the fire all the time. After you're done grilling, you may have to wait a while before you can touch them enough to remove them from your grilling utensil (and just imagine what that means for the batteries inside them).

The light is nice and bright, but the magnetic stand for one of the lights completely shattered when I took out of the packaging. The other one was fine. I only paid $2.49 on clearance, so it wasn't worth my time to exchange it.

Bright lights on your BBQ should be built in to every model.
I usually cook after dark and it is nice to have the light right where you need it. The magnetic holder makes them stick right where you want them.
And these LED's provide great light. My only issue is you have to twist the end to turn them on or off and it seems like a push switch would be better.
They work for great BBQing and probably have other uses as well.

This was exactly as described and came with a set of batteries. Pickup was smooth, quick and the clerk was pleasant and helpful.

Good bright lights but a push button on and off would be better. Pointless if you have stainless grill or utensils.

Got these for the BBQ and I have used them everywhere else. If there's metal you have light,. Small sources that don't get in the way. I've used them in welding, automotive, home re-leveling. Anywhere there's metal I have light. Super idea can't say enough. Nice just to have around. Did not like the watch battery would prefer AAA.
