Handles the grill heat very well, but they take a little getting used to because the silicone doesn't conform to shapes easily and that makes smaller handled tool a little harder to hang onto. All in all a very reliable grill mitt.

Brinkmann Grill Mitt is heat resistant up to 450 degrees. The red area is textured for a non-slip grip, the black area is heat resistant and long enough to protect your arm area. Not sure what kind of grilling requires this. It runs large for a woman's hand but fits my husband hand. It buckles when you grip your hand and you can't get a good hold, possibly causing you to drop things. I say just buy yourself a good set of grilling tools.

Needed: a good grilling mitt that can take the heat and function well. This is not that mitt. The silicone portion is so HUGE that you can't really manage the moveability of the mitt...way too clunky. I do love the fact that it goes all the way to your elbow, so coverage is good. I was surprised that I could feel the heat through the mitt, though...it's just "ok". I guess if you have a huge, huge hand and very large arms...maybe it would function better. I'm not thrilled and left a little disappointed. :(

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TexTed A great grilling mitt!
I have a hard time finding any type of glove that fits my extra large hands, but have no trouble with this mitt. I got this primarily for roasting green chiles from Hatch, New Mexico. They're harvested in August, and have to be roasted and frozen very soon, as they don't keep well. Other than a gas-fired roasting drum, a charcoal grill is the best method. Last year I roasted my hands along with the chiles, as the fire is very hot, and you have to keep turning the chiles with tongs. This year I used this glove, and never felt the heat to any appreciable degree. I was very impressed and will continue to use this mitt for my high heat grilling.

Frankly, a mitten doesn't work as well as a glove. The product is fine and withstands the heat, but it is just clumsy to use. If you can master the use without your fingers, then this would be a great product for you. I just like the feel and flexibility of having my fingers free.

I bought this grilling mitt to get my smoke box off the fire to change out the chips and put it back on, I won't lie my hand gets a bit hot but it never burned my hand what so ever. I run a Brinkmann smoker box on one burner to give a slight smoke flavor to all my meats. I was a bit skeptic of this mitts claims as the store had pretty much no other mitts to handle my needs. My only wish is the store had another mitt for me to purchase when I purchased this one. Highly recommended.

This mitt is what happens when smart design meets practicality! It puts ordinary oven mitts to shame. I got this with grilling in mind to go with my new grilling utensil set and my wife loves it so much she made me pick up 2 more for the kitchen.
It's a cinch to clean up being that the mitt itself is made of silicone so a splash of bbq sauce or grease here and there requires only a quick rinse rather than a trip through the washing machine.
As for sizing I'm 6'5" and have fairly large hands and I can slip this mitt on with no problems at all, I highly recommend!
