Rated 4 out of 5 by Impressed so far I'm switching back from years of charcoal and wood burning smokers. I needed something that I could grill a quick dinner on and maybe smoke some small portions for my family. this dual use grill/smoker is the perfect fit. Large grill top with good controls and the smoker can handle a large piece of fish, a few racks of ribs or a dozen of sausages easily. Its been easy to keep clean and looking good. Lastly - it was the easiest grill I've ever had to assemble. April 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works like a Charm This unit is replacing an older unit I had for 3-4 years. I live in Miami, Florida and bbq around once a week all year long. I'm happy with my purchase. We went through two broken units at Home Depot before we finally found one that wasn't dented. Packed it in my SUV and went home. Check the box before you leave! At home it took about 45 minutes to put it together and take it off the crate. I first tested the grilling unit and the side burner... everything worked like a charm. The rotisserie burner also had no issues. Even heat and heated up to 600 degrees very quickly. On to the smoker. A lot of people had troubles with it so I was skeptical. However mine turned on easily... turn gas knob to high, keep pushing in that knob, click igniter to spark flame while holding in knob and hold for about 20 or so seconds. Voila it came on, stayed on and got to 300+ degrees on about 3/4. I didn't keep the knob pressed in for more than 20 seconds. So I can safely say there were absolutely no issues with my unit. Its obviously not going to have the thick stainless and build quality as its higher priced rivals but thats fine for the amount of money you will spend for this unit. I have a 3 in 1 bbq at a great price point. I added a picture of the smoker at 300 degrees at about 3/5 to 3/4 of the way around. I will however probably add an aluminum "rig" around the large smoker opening to keep flavor in once I start smoking. October 6, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Did not last as long as I hoped Although this grill has performed well, after only 3 years, all of the guts are completely rotted out. There are replacement parts available but the metal brackets required to support the burner tubes and the heat shields in some spots have rusted out as well making replacement difficult without a welder. For the money, I would have expected this grill to last longer or at least for the critical support parts to be manufactured of a tougher material so that replacement parts could be installed. This grill was used frequently, several times a week, and was kept covered when not in use so all rot is due to heating and cooling of the metal, not weathering. Seems nothing is made to last anymore. May 11, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do NOT Buy This Grill! I bought this grill for the smoker and the rotisserie. I have used the smoker three times and all three times it has failed me! The flame just goes out and will not stay lit (even when you do the "regulator resetting procedure" as outlined in Trouble Shooting pg. 19 "Flame Blows Out" procedure). I read about this problem before I purchased this product and just ignored it thinking "it won't happen to me!" I was wrong. As for the rotisserie, the motor stalls out and makes a clicking sound. This has happened both times I tried to use it. The chickens were not big at all. The motor just doesn't seem strong enough to keep it turning without some help. This was a very disappointing purchase. Save yourself some buyers' remorse and purchase something else. September 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Smoking and Grilling Combo. 2 week review. This would have been 3.5 stars, but there is no option for half a star. This grill is a nice sturdy grill and put together very well. There is a large surface area, the lid feels solid and the handle does not get so hot you cannot open the grill. It was priced right for the quality of the grill I received. The cons are: There are 5 burners and each area of the burners is hotter in different areas. Some are in the back, front or middle. If you close the grill, all the heat gets blown to the far back of the grill and goes straight out the back of the huge hole in the top of the grill. My previous grill had ceramic briquettes and a smaller hole in the sides of the grill. This allowed for move even cooking and all the heat did not escape where you could almost bake on it. The grill will reach 500 degrees if you shut the lid and turn all 5 burners on full blast! There are only heat shields which get hot and cold very fast and do not retain heat. So if you think that hot spot in the front is good for roasting, you have to shift it to the back when you close the lid. The smoker works well once you understand the nuances a smoker in a grill creates. First off, on the lowest setting the smoker would not go down below 275 degrees. I have a conversion from the house natural gas to the grill so I thought maybe it was the pressure of the gas house so I had to turn the valve from the house down to limit the gas going to the grill. Once I did that, it stayed at 200 Degrees all day. The next problem is the proximity of the wood chip box to the water. It practically touches the water so if you have cold water, it cools the chip box down and it never starts to smoke. The chip box also sits on a shelf made of metal that covers the area of the smoker, so you have to heat up the shelf hot enough to make the chip box smoke. This design is not the best. I have learned to pre-heat the chip box before smoking to make sure there is smoke available and continue to remove and heat it up during the smoking process. Some of these issues may be caused by the conversion line from propane to natural gas but it’s a pain nonetheless. I did have to call for support when doing the conversion. You get to leave a message and someone calls you back in 5-30 minutes. They called me back in 10 minutes and were very polite and knowledgeable. After 2 weeks of non-stop grilling I have figured out how to grill very well on this grill and I would recommend it to someone who understands heat, hot spots and how to grill. The novice may get frustrated with the temperature differences changing and moving. June 25, 2013
