Had to assemble. No big deal as the directions are excellent. Gate opening control handle is flimsy, but managed to use it without destroying it. Need to be careful with flow rate. As with all of these things, the rate is "approximate". When I used the recommended opening, it REALLY dumped a lot of material. But I was watching, adjusted it to a much slower rate and it worked fine. Got the job done. Did a pretty good job. Only took a few laps to figure it out. You really can reach the controls from your mower's seat. I'm glad I bought it, but I'll treat it with kids' gloves. Should last a long time as nothing that touches the fertilizer is metal.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ARMNR Excellent Build Quality
I purchased this spreader based on user reviews. I needed it for home use on 1.5 acres of property in upstate NY. In short, the build quality is excellent, heavy duty and well designed with prolific use of heavy duty material, Grade 5 and SS hardware throughout. Mounting hardware came in a vacuum packed, logically pre-sorted card. Assembly took about 1 hour. Do yourself a favor, watch the assembly video, read through the assembly instructions and locate the simple modification to the flow control handle that securely locks it in place.
This is my 4th made in the USA Brinly implement. Yes, they are more expensive than made in China "just good enough" units that will likely bend, rust or quit at the worst possible time. Conversely, Brinly implements are heavy duty, buy them once in your life time, use them hard implements that will not disappoint. You'll not regret this purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cory Very nice spreader
Did a lot of research prior to buying this spreader. Very pleased with the purchase. Spread fertilizer very evenly. Very solid. I have a pretty hilly yard and it was not tippy at all. I did read in several reviews that the it tends to vibrate shut during use. I have used it to spread 3 bags of fertilizer and it did tend to vibrate shut on me. I did see some diy fixes that others have used but have not had the time to try it out. A bungy cord worked for me. Even with that issue, I feel for the price it is a great unit. I like the large capacity. I put in two 50 pound bags of fertilizer and it handled it no problem. I would recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill Brinly 125 lb Tow-Behind Broadcast Spreader
The broadcast spreader was fairly easy to assemble. Probably took me about 1-1/2 hours to put it together. It works well and spread the material as advertised. I was happy to see it has a slide that allows material to be spread on right side, left side or center which may be helpful when spreading next to street curbs. It is made of quality high strength materials. After looking around other spreaders, this appears to be the best quality for the price. The only thing I found wrong was the tubular hitch was inadvertently machined incorrectly. The two vertical holes at the hitch were not indexed in line with the two that attach it to the spreader box. This made the adjusting lever about 20 degrees from vertical. I contacted Brinly and they courteously and promptly replaced the item with a new one that was correctly drilled. It didn't take me long to put it back together. The people at Brinly are good to deal with and stand behind their product.

Spreader was fairly easy to assemble except that the hole in the axle that the cotter pin goes in to attach to the agitator was not drilled in the center of the axle. Had to enlarge the hole in the plastic coupling to get it to line up with the axle hole and get the cotter pin through it. Otherwise pretty simple to assemble. Having the parts all shrink wrapped step by step made it easy to put together. Suggest reading through the maintenance part of the manual before assemble and having some axle grease on hand to assemble it with for lubrication.

An excellent product, well made and appears very durable. The instructions and the packaging of the parts are the best I've seen in many ages. All the parts are packaged in a series of packets and are related to figures of assembly in sequence. No fumbling through bags of loose parts. When assembling the wheels onto the axle you will need two more 5/8" washers to take up the play between the wheel hub and axle stop. No big deal only wish the mfg had provided them. I believe another review also addressed this need.Adjusting the drop lever required some trial and error but was easily set. Pull up the manual for reference. Did 2 acres in short order.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LivingTheDream Not for zero turn mowers
The unit works fine behind a conventional riding mower. But if you have a zero turn mower forget it. You can't reach the lever to start or stop the flow of fertilizer. Emailed manufactor to see if they offered a kit to extend lever forward for zero turn mowers, they do not.
