Customer Questions & Answers

What is the gallon capicity of the roller? I want to fill it with water at 5 lbs per gal.

Brinly 24" X 36" tow roller
Asked by: Anonymous
The roller holds 76 gallons of water, has an empty weight of 52 pounds and a combined [full] weight of 690 pounds. Water weighs ~8.4 pounds per gallon. If you want to use the roller at a reduced weight depending on where or when you are using it, you would simply add less water for that use. For example, if you want only 300 pounds instead of 690 pounds for a particular use: (target weight - empty weight) / weight of water per gallon = water to add... (300 pounds - 52 pounds) / 8.4 pounds per gallon = 29.5 gallons of water to add.

The C clip and axle issue

with all the comments about the weak C clips falling off, the pictures looks as thought the axle is made of steel. is there a reason why a person couldn't drill a hole through the axle and insert a cotter pin much the same way as done with automotive axle nuts? or maybe match up the C clips and washers at the hardware store and buy spares so you have replacements should the C clips fail and come off? or are the C clips and washers an odd ball size that can't be replaced? is the axle hollow where it shouldn't be drilled which would cause fluid loss? it doesn't look like it would be hollow, but thought I'd ask before I buy one.
Asked by: Gramps
I had no problems wit the C-clip so far and have rolled 5 acres numerous times. If I did, I would probably drill a hole and use a pin of some sort.

Read the reviews on the bearing issues so I put two flange type bearing on right away $8.00 each at farm store and just drilled two holes to mount them. Works great and did an awesome job on flatting out the yard. The drain plug is big so it drained out in less than 5 minutes to put it away.

I found the lighter weight to be a big plus for returning to storage when not being used. The round edges does not put crease marks in lawn like the old steel roller. Do not know how well it will hold up but at least it will not rust out like the old one. A comment about the fill plug giving trouble I found not to be a problem. All you need to do is use Never Sease or "O" ring lube on the thread BEFORE screwing in the plug, and do not over tighten.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use pins not c-clips Good overall product could use some minor upgrades. The c-clips that hold the frame to to the barrel should be upgraded to a pin. These clips pop off very easy when you make a turn on a slight grade or just a sharp turn. I drilled mine out and added a pin which worked great. The frame it's self seems a little flimsy. But it does The job. Would have given it 5 stars if it was not for those c-clips.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks right out of the box I purchased this item online. The assembly was very easy. Filled the barrel with water and it began to squirt water from the side. Right where the seam was for the stud to attach to the frame, the plastic joint was not completely finished. What a waste of time waiting for the roller. Even worse, what a waste of time assembling and filling it.

Free ship to store. Used it twice this spring in my rather bumpy yard and it really made a difference. Weight & size is perfect for my 42" tractor. Highly recommended!
