Customer Questions & Answers

How do the tires hold up? Are they solid?

Asked by: Anonymous
Mine is about ten years old,and the only problem I have is with Goathead stickers, I keep "Slime" in the tires to keep them from going flat.

what runs the pump?

Asked by: Anonymous
A 12V battery, usually the lawn mower's. But that would require the mower to run continuously. Not good for pollution or life of tractor. So my husband replaced the original hose (which ALSO split anyway after a few uses) with a heavy duty 50' long one and installed a battery on the cart. I park the tractor where I need to spray and use the battery to run the pump, getting about 80ft of travel from the tank in one stop. All was well until the tank decided to split open while full with 20gal. of Round-up.

I share this with my neighbor, and we both spray 2-acre bare ground with it at east twice a year, and spot-spray in the meantime. Had it for 10-12 years. We've broken a couple of heads (easily replaceable), and the shut=off valve plumbing a couple of times (our fault). The pressure switch went bad in the pump head, and I bought a replacement for it for about two bucks. Due to goathead thorns, we keep "Slime" in the tires. We have to "Slime" the tractor tires as well. I hit a rock and split the tank, but a couple of drizzles of Gorilla Glue fixed that. I learned that from fixing dirt bike and quad-runner fenders! I'd buy another in a heartbeat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not quite great. The sprayer was easy to assemble and works well. The only issue was the pump to spray boom hose. The length called out in the instructions would reach but made it difficult to remove the cap to fill the tank. I had to purchase a hose myself that is 6 inches longer than what is called for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money Would have given this product zero if I could. I experienced the same issues with short hoses during assembly as many other commentors, but this was easily overcome. My real issue came today when I went to use this sprayer for only the second time. Upon turning the unit on, the pump motor ran for only a second or two before turning off. I am a journeyman electrician, and have a shop full of testing equipment. It was quickly determined that the motor had burned out (open load between the motor leads signifying a burned motor coil/open connection). The motor ow needs to be completely replaced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs additional durability and has questionable quality from the factory. My sprayer had several issues - first, the holes in the front of the frame did not line up with the inserts in the tank, so when assembled at the factory, one of the inserts was damaged by prying to get the hardware started, causing the tank to split about an inch, which caused a leak. Second, the plastic fittings on the pump were cracked, so I replaced with a metal equivalent. Thirdly, the booms could be easily improved by adding a flat washer between to allow for easier folding and unfolding - a $0.10 improvement that keeps the booms from coming loose and looks much more professional. Finally, the use of rubber washers between the tank and frame would reduce the chance of cracking the tank and would reduce vibration. I have corrected each of these issues, but a $350 item should not have problems like this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job I have used this sprayer several times to cover my backyard of about an acre. It has a good spray pattern. Hooked up to a Cub Cadet riding mower. The only issues I had were that the cord for the on off switch is too short to reach the mower and too long to attach to the sprayer. There were times when I had to hold the line in my hand so I could turn off the sprayer when needed. Second issue is the metal brackets that hold up the sprayer arms are put on with a normal bolt and nut. One of the nuts came off due to vibration and I had to replace it. Designing anything that will have to work during vibration of a bouncy ride needs to be much more durable.
