Can a lawn sweeper be hooked behind it?

There is no way to do that without modification

Can this be attached to any make of lawn tractor?

This is much cheaper than the one made by the maker of our tractor :-)
Asked by: WashingtonNewbie
It attaches with a simple pin. If your tractor has a bracket and hole at the rear it should work. If not I would think you could buy something. But most tractors have a hitch.

I'm going to try this again, do you need weight on this to work? I thought it was just supposed to lightly scrape the surface of the lawn

Asked by: YoMomma
the more weight, the deeper the scrape. Otherwise, it just bounces along.

All of the nuts and bolts came on a shrink wrapped cardboard. Each piece was labeled as to where and when to use it. Once assembled, I used a small cinder block to help prevent bouncing around over the uneven ruts in my lawn. I knew I needed to dethatch, but did not expect the 10 huge barrels of hay that were produced! I should have mowed first, then dethatched, then mow again, then rake. Instead of dethatch, rake, mow, rake, mow, rake! Next year I will be in the market for a lawn sweeper. I would stick with the same brand because of my experience with their easy to follow directions.

It seems to be built very well and should last many years. The hardware is clearly labeled for each step which is very helpful. As other people have noted, please do not forget to do the adjustment step! Be careful as well as some steps tell you to leave hardware lose to support later adjustment. It is clearly stated so just take your time and read the instructions. it took me about an hour with adjustment since I did it twice. I pull this with a JD LA130 to help breathe some life back into my lawn. Two cinder blocks on the top are more than sufficient. I would recommend it product to anyone.

I do give them credit for packaging the hardware in an organized blister type pack. As for function it does work ok; however, it seems a bit difficult to get all the tines at the right height from the ground. Maximum hitch height is 14 inches I think. Higher than that and it wont level. I felt the construction was a bit flimsy. Good quality hardware, hardened bolts, etc. If I were to purchase again I think I would spend more money to get something a bit higher quality and easier to assemble. On the other hand, for a lawn implement that you might use twice per year (considering its low cost) it is probably good enough for most if you are willing to endure the frustrating assembly process.

Assembly was easy (don't get too caught up in adjusting the height of the tines, just follow the instructions and go for it), it works great and for the price it is an excellent value. I used 2 cinder blocks for weight to hold it down and I'm glad I did. Made 2 passes over my lawn and removed LOADS of thatch. If you have thatch then you will have a lot of clean-up afterward, but it's worth it!! If your looking for a reasonably priced unit then I highly recommend this one.

This product worked great on my 30" Troy-Bilt riding mower which has a hitch plate on the back. Assembly wasn't difficult as every time I was not 100% sure where a part or bolt went, I referred to a YouTube video which covered assembly. Working alone it took about an hour. What I didn't realize was how much dead thatch was in my yard. An area about 2000 square feet yielded 8 large trash bags of debris. This dethatcher removed it with no problem. I would highly recommend this product. Now on to the backyard.

The directions were easy to follow and took me about 2 ½ hours to put together and complete the height adjustment. I used two blocks to provide extra weight and strapped them on with a cord. Used it for the first time the other day and did a nice job. I did have to go over the same area a couple of times since it has not been done in a few years. Each time I made a pass it pulled up more debris.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tow behind dethatcher Used to dislodge dead moss and prepare lawn for seeding. Depth of tong engagement depends heavily on amount of weight used. I used two 30 lb top soil bags. Assembly is straight forward. Took about 30 minutes. Only issue was tongs were not all same length so engagement depth varies across the 40 inches. Also wheels won't turn if assembled as instructed. You need to play with bolt/nut tightness

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Received as a gift I received this as a gift and once it was delivered it only took about 40 minutes to assemble. it was hot outside so I only took it for a short run. I needed to adjust the wheels to the second hole so it would get the tines closer to the ground. I can see it will do a great job and look forward to doing the entire yard. the part I tried it on, it removed a lot of dead grass.
