Cool attachment to use with the Brinly 42" Lawn Sweeper. Love the ease of installation and adjustability. Could use a few more tines though as you have to set the thing pretty low to get it to really "thatch" the lawn. My old seperate dethatcher was made with heavier gauge steel and had three rows of tines with two more in each row. It did an excellent job of scraping up thatch buried deep in the lawn, but had a fatal flaw in it's overall frame design and broke after only two years. Hopefully, this will last longer and the sweeper does a great job of catching everything it churns up.

As one of the other reviewers wrote this contraption works at it's potential if you apply weight to either the bagger or on the plate that houses the springs that rake the grass, once you've done that, is all good, I was able to lift all kind of dead grass small branches and some but not all acorn, which I have a lot!,
Assembly was ok, about 35 min., plus another 15 min on setting heights and tweaking.
*Beware of tight turns* the hitch connector does not have enough space for this turns and it could easily be bent when you make a tight turn,

I first purchased the Brinly pull behind de-thatcher and after using it I realized that I needed a sweeper (a baggger for my lawn mower cost $550 so I had to find a cheaper alternative) I returned it and purchased the sweeper (which had the hardware missing from the box) and this dethatcher kit. assembly was easy enough. Finding the right combination of sweeper and dethatcher height is the key to the effectiveness. The only complaint is that it is not easy to move the dethatcher position for transport or sweep only use. My yard is not very level and has a lot of sloops so the dethatcher sometimes rides above the ground and does not do its job effectively. Overall I am satisfied with the dethatcher as it is better than raking or leaving thatch from grass cuttings in the lawn.

Was easy to assemble and attached easily to my sweeper. Only improvement i would recommend would be thicker tines with springs that are more resistant. Really got alot of thatch up but seemed to miss some of the larger stuff. Also with tines located so close together i have to stop every so often and pull the built up thatch out of them. Course this is from a yard that had never been thatched before and was in terrible need of it. Ultimately thisproduct did the job and i am pleased with the results.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by roharris33 Double check the model number
I purchased a new sweeper and the dethatcher kit at the same time. The website said that this dethatcher kit fits the sweeper. However it does not. This dethatcher kit fits the older version of the sweeper. Apparently the model number of the sweeper has not changed between the new version and older version.

Was a little difficult to put together and install. After installation product works wonderful and gives no hassle or problems while using. Would recommend it to any one who use's the sweeper attachment.

It took my wife and I over 6 hours over 2 days to assemble this product. The instructions are not easy to follow. It would be nice if Brinly would put an assembly video on their site or include an assembly DVD with the product. Called customer service twice. Pleasant service people but not very helpfull.
If you do not mind assembly frustration I would recommend this product. Once assembled properly it works OK.
