Yes, just two wire nuts needed.

How long are the brackets sticking out?

Asked by: Anonymous
Without climbing back into the attic for a visual, I estimate the brackets to "stick out" about 5 to 6 inches. They have 2 or 3 holes on each, so could be shortened if desired.

1 ) Will a fan motor speed control work on this attic fan and

2 ) will using a fan motor speed control effect the life of the motor ? 3) Would the speed control be wired directly to the motor ( removing the thermostat ) ? Broan 1600 cfm attic fan
Asked by: Anonymous
There is no "speed control" on this type of electric motor. It comes on and off per the temperature setting on the thermostat. All is controlled by simply wiring in a light switch. Then the whole unit is on or off much like a "kill button."

all the other questions are very important but IS THE MOTOR THERMAL PROTECTED YOU DON`T WANT THE MOTOR TO OVER HEAT AND CATCH FIRE IN THE ATTIC IT IS like A CIRCUIT BREAKER THAT TRIPS TURNING OFF THE POWER AT THE MOTOR MOST BETTER MODELS ARE EQUIPPED THIS TYPE OF PROTECTION
Asked by: RICK
The answer to your question is YES they are thermally protected motors. I do not believe you can even purchase a motor for residential fan use in the United States of America that is NOT thermally protected due to strict UL guidelines regarding just as you mentioned FIRE and life safety parameters.

Customer Reviews

1600 CFM Power Gable Mount Attic Ventilator is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 60.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fan review I can feel the difference in the temp of the whole house using this attic fan. I only wish it was quieter. My next door neighbors can hear if they're outside. Luckily my bedroom is in the back of the house so I don't hear it at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy assembly and install This is the third fan that I have installed in this position in 21 years. Compared to the previous model that I removed. this one is better built and the reostat operates more smoothly. It is the same diameter as the old one (15") so no major changes were required. The connection box is hard mounted inside the fan casing. so if you have to replace an old one, take into consideration that you may need a little extra wire to make the run. Because this is a semi-frequent repair, I terminated the supply wiring with a switch box and outlet and converted the fan to a plug in so next time it is not necessary to take down a household circuit for repairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaces one that quit after many many years. This time I mounted ithe fan to a 3/4 " plywood board and then mounted the board to the studs with rubber type insulators instead of directly to the wall studs. Quite a change to the inside of house. No vibretion and just a hint of fan noise inside under it. (barely) Outside it makes the noise that an exhaust fan does, but the blade configuration makes it a little less noiser than the old one. It arrived in excelent condition..... No worries! Install it after a shut off switch jn event you wish to shut it off for any reason. The thermostat seems to adjust close to the degree label. Mine is set on at 90 and off at 80 for Southern Calif. Lets the A,C. rest a little.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ATTIG fan I received the fan I ordered in perfect condition, in a timely manner. When it was installed to replace a smaller fan with a burned out motor, I discovered it was much more powerful, but the noise was much louder Disturbingly so im a smaller attic .
