I have the 350 F model installed and burned out will this fan fit into same housing?

No, it will not. The 35316 is a Gable Fan. The 350 fan is roof mounted.

im replacing my attic fan do i need to remove from roof or can i get a fan only replacement?

Asked by: DS107
The fan motor is supported by three brackets 120 degrees apart both on the old and new units with the same diameter shroud on each. I tried extracting the motor and fan from the new unit and installing in the old shroud to the dismay that the depth of the new shroud is deeper than the old one which allowed the fan to protrude excessively toward the louvers causing the fan to be impeded. I had to reverse that procedure and take the old shroud and fan out and install the whole new unit. If your motor is still operable and the fan has come apart, you might contact the manufacturer and possibly purchase a fan only.

Are the outside brackets detachable?

I need to get the fan through a 18”x18” hole to get it in to the attic. And want to make sure the brackets are detachable.
Asked by: kuno
The brackets are detachable. In fact it comes dissssembled and you have to attach the brackets to the fan housing yourself with the screws provided.

How long are the brackets sticking out?

Asked by: Anonymous
The brackets are adjustable for the depth and are 3-4 inches long. You should mount the fan so there is a very small space between the fan shroud and the opening for maximum efficiency. I used a piece of plywood and cut a hole that left 1/4 of an inch around the fan shroud. The plywood was then mounted to the eve vent.

Customer Reviews

1600 CFM Power Gable Mount Attic Ventilator is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaces one that quit after many many years. This time I mounted ithe fan to a 3/4 " plywood board and then mounted the board to the studs with rubber type insulators instead of directly to the wall studs. Quite a change to the inside of house. No vibretion and just a hint of fan noise inside under it. (barely) Outside it makes the noise that an exhaust fan does, but the blade configuration makes it a little less noiser than the old one. It arrived in excelent condition..... No worries! Install it after a shut off switch jn event you wish to shut it off for any reason. The thermostat seems to adjust close to the degree label. Mine is set on at 90 and off at 80 for Southern Calif. Lets the A,C. rest a little.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Very strong and powerful but produce a very loud noice and I suggest to install an on/off switch because the thermostat doesn't work effectively.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, moves the air in the attic. Unit was easy to install and does what it is suppose to do, move air. Fan noise is about the same as the old unit that was replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product; wonderful results The installation of this product was straight forward. Mounting it on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood nailed on the gable wall created a great seal. Although you can hear the fan from outside the house, it is not too bad in the room directly under it. A kill switch was wired into the circuit and placed inside the closet of the room directly below the fan. However, my wife doesn't find the fan noise disturbing and she noticed a marked difference in the temperature of the house after the fan was installed. This product performs as advertised.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poorly packaged Very poorly shell distorted and fan blades were hitting outer fan shell. Had to bend shell back into shape. I should have taken it back to the store, but I fixed myself to avoid further delay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy assembly and install This is the third fan that I have installed in this position in 21 years. Compared to the previous model that I removed. this one is better built and the reostat operates more smoothly. It is the same diameter as the old one (15") so no major changes were required. The connection box is hard mounted inside the fan casing. so if you have to replace an old one, take into consideration that you may need a little extra wire to make the run. Because this is a semi-frequent repair, I terminated the supply wiring with a switch box and outlet and converted the fan to a plug in so next time it is not necessary to take down a household circuit for repairs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Atic fan The fan came with only 3 of the 4 mounting brackets, but the electrician installed it anyway. The thermostat was not working, so he used the old one on the fan that was being replaced. The fan is now working but at a fairly high noise level. Have received the missing bracket and thermostat from Home Depot, but have not installed them yet since it is extremely difficult to access the fan in the attic due to the tight space and insulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How I Installed the Hot Air Remover in the Attic After noticing the 15 year old home we purchased and moved into in Virginia had no attic exhaust system, and being involved in multi-tasking to the eyeballs for over 90 days in home move-in chores, I first contacted local professional a.c. and handy-folk and the quotes I got made me wish I had not retired. By cruising the Home Depot array of products in the store near us and reading the available reviews on-line, including additional units which are not carried in the local store, I picked out one of the Broan products, a 1600 CFM Gable Mount fan with thermostat and used the advice I saw in other reviews on-line at the Home Depot website for install tips. The unit is up and working quite well. Although it can be heard while standing on our side driveway, it is not what I would call noisy and even in the room below the attic, an upstairs guest bedroom, the noise level, though noticeable, is nothing more than white noise IMO. That said, I did install a switch for shutting the fan off in the event of a maintenance issue or a guest concern. I did use a plywood backer board onto which the fan is mounted via the included metal brackets after I cut the hole to fit the 15" diameter sheet metal shroud around the fan and I did use foam insulation on the face of the mounting to absorb the limited vibration I noted and I used silicone sealant in the open spaces between my hole-cut and the metal fan shroud. I mounted the board with fan attached right behind and existing louvered gable screened opening high in the exterior wall at the eve. Last evening after a warm day, I went up the stairs to the attic to check the temperature around 10 p.m. and and the air temperature in the attic was just about equal to the lowering outside temperature. The ventilator fan had already shut off via the thermostat control. This purchase was made through the aegis of the Home Depot website, with pickup at an HD not far away in less than a week. My wife even obtained help from a customer service agent in Atlanta in combining this purchase with another which is a back order in order to receive a new resident discount. She/we could not have been happier with this little transaction. We are regular customers of our Home Depot.
