Picture and description do not mention a stem on the product, although it is specified for 6" applications.

Answer:
Yes. The stem (or collar) projects more than 1" from the bottom of the unit, allowing ample space to connect the duct after allowing for the roof thickness.

Answer:
I've installed mine, it's probably a 3" flange. It's used for a range hood vent. I purchased a 36" extension for my application. There are a number of in stock extensions at most stores.

Answer:
Yes, but it is more than 6" diameter as the stem is larger to accommodate a 6" Duct that comes Insulated. However, you can fill the approx 3/8" gap with a strip of Insulation Duct taped to the non- insulated duct. and then duct tape the connection.

Hi, Paul. Thank you for your question about this ventilation accessory. You are correct that the photo does not show the stem, so it’s a good valid question. This roof cap does have a 6” diameter portion that protrudes through your cut-out. This is where you would connect your running duct to it. If you have further questions, please contact our Customer Service Department at 888-336-3948. Thanks, Read More

Well built and came shipped to the house in one piece. Metal is flimsy but still durable and coated nicely which is typical for roof vents. Instructions good have been better for a novice as they are pretty general as far as placement on roof and dealing with multiple layers of shingles. Overall fair price. Was installed to evacuate two bathrooms that were next to each other with a 6" in-line fan placed into attic. This was another way of staying within code and not having to puncture another hole in the roof.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too short of a connection My only problem was that the throat of the pipe is too short to get a good seal when making the pipe connection after the unit is installed. a could extra inches would make life much easier for the interior or realize that the only way to get a good solid connection is to do this BEFORE installing the vent!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broan six inch roof cap The neck was too short coming through the roof and it was a lot of trouble connecting the fan exhaust to it. I literally had to make up an extension to connect the fan exhaust duct to the roof cap Assembly. I don't understand why they just don't make it at least a quarter inch longer, Or at leased give you a sleeve to put over it to help with installation. You can tape the duct to it, but eventually it will leak, causing hot moist air to go into your attic, and defeat the whole purpose of the roof cap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice exhaust vent housing Well made, very easy to install. Slightly noisy when raining, Rain on a tin roof sound.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Collar at bottom not deep enough An additional collar had to be screwed into the one built into this hood in order for it to reach far enough into the attic to attach a hose. In short, no collar or a longer one would have been perfect and improved ease of installation, so I would not purchase this one again for that reason. Other wise, it has good features (damper and screen). I think there is a version without a built in collar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from vent cap Good value vent cap. Decent sturdy construction. However, one design flaw. Metal flap valve, located at the roof line, will freeze/stick to metal vent body during colder weather. When using the vent though, once warm vented air unfreezes flap valve it will function properly. Unfortunately though, in the meantime a noisy fluttering sound can be heard while air tries to squeeze around the stuck metal valve. Metal moisture-condensing flap valve should be replaced or edge-lined with lesser moisture condensing/ freeze resistant thermo-plastic.
