My only problem was that the throat of the pipe is too short to get a good seal when making the pipe connection after the unit is installed. a could extra inches would make life much easier for the interior or realize that the only way to get a good solid connection is to do this BEFORE installing the vent!

Well made, very easy to install. Slightly noisy when raining, Rain on a tin roof sound.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Broman vent cap
Good value vent cap. Decent sturdy construction. However, one design flaw. Metal flap valve, located at the roof line, will freeze/stick to metal vent body during colder weather. When using the vent though, once warm vented air unfreezes flap valve it will function properly. Unfortunately though, in the meantime a noisy fluttering sound can be heard while air tries to squeeze around the stuck metal valve. Metal moisture-condensing flap valve should be replaced or edge-lined with lesser moisture condensing/ freeze resistant thermo-plastic.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Montauk Broan six inch roof cap
The neck was too short coming through the roof and it was a lot of trouble connecting the fan exhaust to it. I literally had to make up an extension to connect the fan exhaust duct to the roof cap Assembly. I don't understand why they just don't make it at least a quarter inch longer, Or at leased give you a sleeve to put over it to help with installation. You can tape the duct to it, but eventually it will leak, causing hot moist air to go into your attic, and defeat the whole purpose of the roof cap.

We installed the cap on the roof fairly easily. You can't adjust the angle on any of these caps and that would be a great feature. I haven't finished connecting the cap to the duct work, but that shouldn't be a problem. The strange thing is that nearly all of the Broan range hoods I looked at will take 7" round duct work, yet the company doesn't offer a 7" round cap. We'll see how it holds up after a few years.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by homeowner1 Collar at bottom not deep enough
An additional collar had to be screwed into the one built into this hood in order for it to reach far enough into the attic to attach a hose. In short, no collar or a longer one would have been perfect and improved ease of installation, so I would not purchase this one again for that reason. Other wise, it has good features (damper and screen). I think there is a version without a built in collar.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Farmertom1712 Exactly what I needed
The roof cap was just what I needed to end a run of 6" kitchen vent pipe. This model was much easier to use than the basic one that does not have a collar that fits the duct.
