Does the cabinet (outside) of the heater get too hot to touch (i.e., will it burn you)?

Asked by: mieranjel
The handle is so convenient that I have no recollection of ever trying to move the heater by holding it by the cabinet. However, in two years of using two different heaters in my tiny, sometimes very crowded travel trailer, I have bumped into them many times and never remember being burned. When I lift them by the handle, I can say for sure that mine only leave a slightly warm spot on the vinyl or faux wood floor. I know because I always touch the floor when I move them...just to be sure the heater isn't overheating. You probably won't have any issues wit h burning yourself if you are careful, but please contact the company if you plan to use this in a child's room. Sorry I could not be more specific, but the HD site will not let me enter my other review comments without all the comments being filled out.

what is the upper limit setting on the thermostat?

Asked by: JoefromCinti
I do not know, but I can state that both heaters I own just keep going when on high. I manually turn them back a bit once I reach the desired temperature level. I have never had these heaters shut down before the room was toasty. That is one of the pluses of this heater.

I want to use the heater in a small water bay in our motor home, about 4' x 3' x 2'. Would it be safe on low?

Asked by: bill
I live in a travel trailer and understand your situation. I think this may be way too much heater for that small space, even on low. It might be difficult to tell how warm the room was getting if access is outside only. See what others say, of course. You've probably already thought of insulation and ruled that out.

They had several sitting around in use, so I was able to see it in action. I talked the manager into selling it to me. It was love at first sight. After two years, I began to worry that I would not be able to find another one if mine ever went out. When I searched the internet, I was delighted to find them at Home Depot for such a great price. Received it two days early. These little powerhouses have lots of pluses. They put out a better blast of hot air than any small space heater I have used in the past...and I have used a lot of space heaters in my day. They are square, so they don't tip over easily like some of the top heavy ones we see at Walmart. Handle on top makes them very easy to pick up and relocate to another spot. Knobs are comfortable and easy to use for those of us with arthritis. Caution light is always good. This may not matter to most but I did love the industrial look that blends in very well with my decorating style. One thing you will love is how this space heater thermostat will not shut the heater down prematurely. Neither of my heaters have shut down while the room was still cold. I find a bad thermostat to be one of the most frustrating points about a cheap space heater. I feel confident that you will never go back once you have used this heater. It is worth the little extra you pay for it compared to the ones sold in drug stores and box stores. I can't say enough good things about my little Broan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a beast! We live in a 26 foot travel trailer and used this during the storm where it got to -20 degrees and 80 mph winds, we stayed toasty, as we watched others abandon their trailers to the weather, it's a beast. Running on high, puts out massive amounts of heated air and we generally run it on low. If used in an rv, I recommend an sizable extension cord ran for just this, to keep from drawing electricity from the inside of the trailer. We have had ours for 3 years and still going strong. It may seem pricey, but worth every penny.
