Will your product work as a replacement for a six speed ceiling fan?

I don't know the brand of the fan, but due to a recent mishap, the switch needs to be replaced, but the fan is working fine. It is a six speed ceiling fan that looks like a commercial type of ceiling fan.
Asked by: sq
Thanks for your question. This variable speed control could possibly cause 'humming'. We offer a ceiling fan switch with four speeds. You can use our four speed switch, but you might also want to contact the manufacturer for the fan and see if they still have the switch you need. If you have questions, dial 888-336-6151 and talk to our Technical Support Department.

Ivory Electronic Variable Speed Wall Control is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product This switch was a welcome complement to the exhaust fan it was paired with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed, well executed fan controller I had to replace the replacement controller from Sears (the original source) after it started smelling like burned plastic. This one from Broan is better in every way: turns down to a low speed where the fan is almost, but not, stalling; runs smoothly everywhere in between up to full speed. (Mine is a 1/3 HP whole-house fan.) Check out the picture on the Broan website, since this one juts out from the wall about 1/2" and that's not obvious from the pictures that crop out the 3rd dimension. But the engineer in me loves why it juts out: it's a substantial aluminum (but painted) heatsink for the fan speed controller riveted to the back of it. It still looks fine (no objections from my wife) and after a while it's just part of the wall. And it runs nice and cool (just slightly warm to the touch - this one should last!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Switch for new fan. Used this switch with my new Brian fan and it works great. Slightly large for the small box I needed to use for my narrow wall, but functions perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy To Install The switch was easy to install and functioned as expected.
