Product description says not for use on a flat roof. Mine isn't flat, but has only a slight pitch. Is the product a good fit for this situation?

Answer:
I used this on a slight pitch roof and rain comes in when it comes from a specific angle (directly at it). This vent requires a certain pitch for gravity to keep the louver closed. Now I have to tear it out and buy a flat roof vent. I recommend you do the same if you have less than a 15 degree pitch.

It can but you need to make sure to seal the flange well and face the opening away from prevailing winds.

Answer:
The minimum “pitch” is 2/12. This is a 9.46 degree of angle.
If your roof meets this minimum, then you should be okay. If not, then it would not be recommended. For additional assistance, please contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151.

Is there one included? I didn't find one in my kit. No way to connect the flexible duct to the roof cap.

Answer:
Tim, yes, there should have been a separate connector piece that twists onto the roof cap. This then connects to the flex duct with a zip tie.

The flexible duct easily connects to the fan housing and can be sealed with duct tape. Be careful to make sure there are no leaks and that the flexible duct does not get any punctures or tears.

Can the rvk1a roof vent kit be installed on a wall instead of a roof instead of the Wvk2a wall vent.

My thought is that the roof kit would better prevent drafts than the wall vent kit or is there no advantage to doing this?. I am considering the Broan 684NT vent fan and will want to add a timer switch to control the fan.

Answer:
No, simply because of the way it is installed. Presumably your house has vinyl/aluminum/wood/et. al siding. The wall vent kit will come with a more appropriate cover piece to match your siding (aesthetics) and also to shed water away. If you were to install this roof vent it would look like a huge black metal eyesore on the side of your house and would almost certainly collect water along siding laps.

Thanks for your question. The answer is a tough one! You could try insulating the actual exhaust pipe. This might muffle the sound a bit. It’s metal. And when rain hits it, it’s going to make some noise. You may want to contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 and see if they can offer another suggestion. Regards.

Hi helpless, here's an idea. try using Rustoleum Leak Seal flexible rubber coating, sold by Home Depot, to coat the top of the vent. this will dampen the sound of the rain on the bare metal. Hope this helps

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DIY First Timer If you aren't afraid of DIY projects, this will be manageable. Do not install on a flat roof. Don't forget a couple of nails, hammer, jigsaw, extension cord, duct tape, roof cement, a mixer, and a brush to apply the cement. April 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great buy But you need a 4 inch insulated vent hose to vent out a bathroom fan, fyi. To vent a range hood a 4 inch metal pipe is rec. Other than that works great. June 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, high quality product Easy to install. I like this vent because it id heavy duty steel that will not dent easily. May 31, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best you can get There are a lot of cheap, thin bathroom exhaust vents out there, this one is the best. April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice roof kit The roof vent kit was very easy to install, and works as it should. It looks like it should last a long time, it was well built. April 1, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by adequate I have used this kit several time now with different customers. It is probably the absolutely cheapest materials and design that gets the job done. A few gripes: the "bird" screen falls out very easily, the screw in attachment to the vent is a little hit or miss especially in a tight space. Make sure you spend plenty of time to perfectly align the unit under a full shingle and seal properly. The instructions are good (if you read them!). Remember that there is little room for error when making holes in your roof. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value, easy to install I bought two of these kits as I had two bath fans which were exhausting to the attic. They had excellent instructions and went in easily. Only suggestion would be to include the sealing tape in addition t the tie wrap for a code complete kit. One installation as a straight shot from the fan was pretty close to the peak of the roof. This one catches the wind and so makes a bit of flapper noise on a windy day. Maybe an added note to the instructions that this may no be the best place, and a little angle on the vent line is OK.
