Customer Questions & Answers

is it snap lock

Asked by: stacey
Yes, like all laminate I have seen it is a tilt and snap together style. This is much thicker than the peel and stick tiles, MUCH bigger too.

Does this flooring require an underlayment & is it approved for use over radiant in-the-floor heat?

product description does not include this information. Thank you.
Asked by: toybox
I would go by manufacturer specs, but here is my OPINION after installing it. The underlayment is critical as a vapor barrier. Most laminate can draw water and swell over time. So, over bare concrete it is a must. Over another finished floor, I do not believe a vapor barrier is required. On the other hand, laminate is MUCH harder than hardwood floors and the cork or foam underlayment "softens" the feel. Hope that helps, Sean

Can it be installed over Vinyl flooring

I have a kitchen floor with 2 vinyl tile applications. Will I need to strip them off?
Asked by: nordeys
Absolutely go right over it. I did install the cork "padding" between existing floor and this. These are even thick enough to go over real tile.

Can I order extra pieces?

I need 102 sq. feet and three boxes is 105sq. feet. I'm worried with having to cut it I might come up short.
Asked by: none
Not sure, but there are only 4 to a box, so get a box!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dissapointed we bought this flooring for our kitchen and family room. my husband said it was hard to work with because of the width and does not snap together easily this was the 5th time he installed laminate flooring.the worst thing is it it is the snapping and creaking sound it makes when you walk on it . we can hear it across the house. worst than an old wood floor. we used pergo gold underlayment and are going to change it to a cheaper white foam only .30 sq. ft to see if it helps with the sound.the trim pieces we ordered do not quite match the flooring either they are too light in color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Aged Terracotta Laminate Review I've installed several laminate floors by myself before and this was by far the hardest to install. The planks are large at 16" wide x 47.74" long. My 10" sliding miter saw wasn't big enough to cut them in one cut so I had to flip and make two cuts per board. That was the easy problem. Secondly, many of the laminate boards were tough to get to snap together at the last 1/16 to 1/32" on the 16" side of each board. It's definitely a two-person job as I had my dad stand on both boards as I smacked away with my tapping block to get them to snap together. There were a good many edges that didn't connect seamlessly also; if you run your finger over those seems you can definitely feel it. The floor does look amazing as you can see from the pics, I'm just hoping this floor holds up to some wear and tear because we just installed in our newly remodeled kitchen. Fingers crossed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Little extra work Despite the packages looking perfect, 5/8 of the planks had damage to the tongue/groove. However, if you use a utility knife to cut away the damaged parts, or put those sides toward the wall you'll be fine. I used it in a small 1/2 bath (~39 sq ft), so it wasn't too many for me to deal with. I think I'd be mad if I was doing a really big floor & had that percentage of damaged pieces. They need to improve either their QC or packaging, but in the end my floor was still pretty easy/quick to install and looks great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Of 5 boxes every piece had a chiped corner. Did not used went with a different brand. Set back the job Product was double boxed when I received it from Home depot. On the job the day of install we opened all the boxed and found that every piece had a chiped or dented corner. We scrambled to find a different product to install that day. I am not having good luck with Home Depot and their material. I will only buy tools there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than we imagined Looking at a sample doesn't do this flooring justice. Once installed, we were thrilled. Looks fantastic and very easy to care for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my floor! The floor is beautiful. I'm really happy with it. There were previous reviews that said there was a lot of damaged pieces from shipping. I did not have one piece damaged. They shipped my order on its own pallet and all was well. The only issue my installer had was figuring out the initial pattern. They called Armstrong and got specific instructions on what to do and had no problems from then on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not recommend this product! We are doing a kitchen remodel and having used this type of product before, decided it would look good. I ordered online and when the packs arrived, they all looked in good condition so we put them in a safe place until we were ready to start. When we were ready to lay the flooring we opened 2 or 3 packs so that we could mix and match any variations but in every pack we opened almost all had damages on the tongue and groove, making it impossible to install the flooring correctly. We made a start with the good planks but as we opened more packs we realised that there were more bad planks than good ones. Eventually, having opened 8 of the 13 packs we ordered, we only had 8 planks that weren't damaged out of 32!! The damages were in places where they must have been put into the packs damaged. All the flooring is going back which has put the remodel back and we are extremely unhappy to say the least.
