Asked by: mtronc
The Home Depot photo is misleading. The tiles consist of four 6" x 6" sections which are glued together to make a 12" x 12" tile. Photos attached.

I have an above grade concrete floor, can this be laid on it?

Asked by: Walter
We put parquet similar to this product directly on the concrete floor. As we live in Southern California there is not much issue about heat/cold insulation, and we did not have problems - glue holds and parquet is just fine. We did put additional polyurethane finish immediately after installation.

American Home 5/16 in. Thick x 12 in. Wide x 12 in. Length Natural Oak Parquet Hardwood Flooring (25 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color was slightly different from what I was looking for,... Color was slightly different from what I was looking for, but it worked out okay.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of a defective product We received these parquet tiles in cartons labeled 12"x12" but actually they were only individual 6" squares that were not attached to one another. The 6" wood looked good so we decided to install them anyway. We then discovered that every tongue on the tile had a line of dried glue making it diffiucult to fit them together. To use them, we had to run each individual 6" square through our table saw to remove the glue. We notified Home Depot and received a small $37 credit on our purchase. I can't see a do-it-yourself homeowner being able to use this product sucessfully. Cleaning the glue off these tiles was a major job and not something for a simple matt knife.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product not as advertised This product was advertised as 12x12 and was not, it arrived in 6x6 squares with glue around all the edges. It was a nightmare to install as each 6x6 square needed to have the dryed glue chizled off the sides of the edges and then it had to be pieced together to form the parquet look. We had installed a similar floor about 10 years ago and it was beautiful and easy to install - this on he other hand almost made my installer quit but my husband worked on digging the glue out of the cracks and the edges with a knife. A real disapointment and very expensive for what we got.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heartbreaking, poor quality This product has gone way down hill over the years. I have 500 SF installed in two rooms about 12 years ago. We ordered 275 SF for an adjoining bedroom. I opened two boxes and pulled 30% that I would not be able to put down because of disjointed sections and chunks missing from the oak strips. This material might be acceptable if it was filled, sanded and refinished after it was put down, but why bother. Sad example of "Made in America"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repairing Parquet Hardwood Flooring Although the shade of the American Home Parquet hardwood flooring differed from our 25+ year floor, we feel the result of the repair still came out very well. For some reason, a portion of our original floor buckled and needed to be repaired. The replacement set from Home Depot was very reasonably priced and was delivered quickly. The repair was straightforward since the replacement 6" x 6" parquet tiles were physically compatible with our old flooring and easy to be glued in place. We ordered enough tiles for just in case there will be more repairs to be made on our old but still good looking floor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality We bought this to do a pantry floor that was near another parquet floor. We knew we could not match it but close was good enough. While the color was close the product quality is horrible. There were huge gaps between the fingers that could not be closed. Many of the fingers had slashes in the middle that went all the way through. We could not even get 8 pieces out of the box of 25 that were good. We made do as we only needed 8 but I will never buy this again. Someone needs to do quality control before they sell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good source of materials I purchased this parquet flooring not to lay it as a floor but in order to use the materials to repair and replace damaged parts of a preexisting parquet floor in an 1890 brownstone. The pieces were ranging from a few pieces 2" by 4 " to a missing 7" by 7" complicated geometric design. It worked wonders. Of course the whole floor must be refinished as it was in bad shape. Exactly what I wanted and needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard To Find Parquet is apparently not "in style" at the moment, so purchase options are somewhat limited. I ordered a sample of this from Home Depot (which costs $10....) and it looked ok, so I placed a full order. When it arrived, I noticed it had more dark areas overall than the sample would seem to indicate. Picture of the floor attached, so you can see how it compares to the image displayed here.
