what thickness is the finished top layer?

Asked by: 2bubbys
"Community Answer" erroneously gave you the thickness of the whole board, .375, or 3/8". The top layer, the only part of the board that is oak, is usually 1/16 of an inch, or .0625" on cheaper engineered hardwood like this. The more expensive the engineered hardwood the the thicker the wear layer usually.

I believe this is a quality product, however, I did not realize the difference of "engineered" vs. hardwood. I ordered the floating floor expecting the natural finish of the piece on display and returned it when I learned what "engineered" meant--the feel is different than real solid wood. Product did arrive on time and good quality except for 4 out of 11 boxes with very minor damage.

The worst part is warranty. My floor changed color badly in 3 years. Warranty is lifetime :) The Armstrong warranty department says it is Home Depot's problem and Home Depot sends back to Armstrong. In a while both ignore your request. Think of it before buying the floor.
