This color appears the same as the Dundee plank espresso on the Bruce website. I could not find "flint oak" on the website. I need quarter round molding to match the Dundee plank espresso and some more flooring for a bedroom. Is this the same or should I order from a flooring store?

My disappointment is driven by two major factors: 1) Damage during delivery/shipping 2) Product quality 3) Refund policy DELIVERY: wood arrived severely damaged during shipping. I had to return 25% of my order to the store even without opening the boxes because of severe damage imposed on the product during shipping. Replacement I received was in a bit better shape, but also many planks were damaged (inside of the boxes!) by ignorant shipping. Ordering in pallets won’t help: many outside boxes receive damage anyway. If a side of the box is damaged, it means you’re throwing away at least half of the box, because there are not so many planks inside (these are the wider planks – less quantity inside of the box). I had to deal with all kinds of issues caused by improper shipping: split tongue/groove sides, cracked plank ends, cracked planks, etc. Not just shipping to home made my order inconvenient, it brought extra burden and nerves: 1) Shipping carrier lost most part of my order and had no clue where it was. I spent plenty of time on the phone with Home Depot and shipping carrier trying to find it. 2) Since my delivery turned into three parts (instead of one), I had to meet the delivery three times instead of one. Each time they give you ½ day time slot, so you’re really stuck. 3) You have to help yourself in case you have to return your order. Get a car/truck, load boxes into it, get to home depot. All in all, SHIPPING TO HOME turned out into tremendous WASTE OF TIME instead of providing time savings. Shipping to home – never again. PRODUCT QUALITY: a) GAPS. Be prepared for a good piece of extra work! I mean it. Unless you don’t care about gaps. This product is NOT the case shown on most videos when you just use your rubber mallet and then nail it… If you want to have no gaps, you’ll have to apply some imagination and special tooling to make them stick to each other seamlessly. LOTS OF EXTRA EFFORT. b) FINISH. Some of the planks happened to have damaged finish out of the box. Some had wood filler. Some had bark on the reverse side. c) WIDTH. Some planks have different width at their ends. Watch out! d) LENGTH. Not excited about planks length. Even if you happen to reveal some longer planks inside of the boxes, most of them are extra trouble to fit (see point #a above) e) COLOR variation. Colors and texture vary significantly. Even putting some obviously gray planks aside (yes, something you wouldn’t expect to get as “select” grade), you either ignore colors and texture variation or spend even more time dealing with it. I just pulled plug on it at some point. f) WASTE. I had to try really hard in order to minimize waste. I had to assemble, disassemble and assemble again each row for several times due to gaps, uneven planks, damaged planks, planks not fitting into each other, damaged/incomplete tongues, etc. As a bottom line – I would stick to another product if I knew I would experience issues above. I would be okay to deal with points #b)-f) above if planks would fit easy. Point #a (gaps) is the major time consumer which made my project drag a LOT LONGER THAN EXPECTED. NEVERTHELESS I have to admit that after all this hard work, the RESULT LOOKS AWESOME! REFUND POLICY: watch out as they may not refund you taxes you paid! That is my case. They just provided refund for the product price, but not the taxes. This is the very first time ever I experience that. As a bottom line: my project turned out to last LOT LONGER due to EXTRA EFFORT I had put into making planks fit seamlessly. You got what you pay for. Though the resulting floor looks great and awesome, I will definitely stick to different product and likely buy it right from the store/warehouse should I do next project of the kind.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT waste your money! Loved the look of this product, but pretty is all it has going for it. Our installers layed two rows of it down today, before realizing almost every board was either mis-cut or cupped. Thankfully this wasn't a DIY project for us, because our non-pro eyes probably wouldn't have realized anything was wrong. It was easy to see the flaws once the contractor pointed them out though. They refused to continue the job using this product, so back to Home Depot it goes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some serious problems with this product We have found many of the problems as stated by other customers. We found by checking the width of each board you can use the wider ones in one row and the narrow ones in another row but you must check each width because they are not consistent. This has increased the labor of installing considerably. There are lots of knots and broken tongues. Some warped boards are unusable. We will probably lose 20% of our product to defects

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bruce Natural oak 5" wide hardwood The 5" natural oak looks very nice, I'd rate more stars, but 3 stars for reasons. The boxes has a lot of bent pieces and some pieces are smaller than 5" wide, so we wasted than 2-3 boxes out 15 boxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardwaood Floors Great floor. We love it. It requires the floor to be prepared and then nailed and stapled. It takes more work than a snap and click floor. But we prefer the 3/4 hardwood without the extra work of staining and varnishing. Really like the product. Wish there was a few more longer boards. I understand it is random selection of boards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look over EVERY Piece I purchased 27 boxes of this flooring. So far I have finished 3 of the four rooms of the planned installation. I am very pleased with the look and feel but I do offer this advice. You MUST look over every piece prior to nailing it! Every single box I opened (21 so far) has had some flawed wood in it. By flawed I mean tongues damaged (this is the most prevalent defect). Some of the longer boards have been slightly warped. Now I lay each long board on its long edge to see if any daylight appears underneath. More often than not, the longer boards are unusable on the main floor. I have to save them for the closet where I can get away with a small gap. The video on HDs website says 75 QA checks. Ha! I don’t believe that for a second given the large amount of defects found. At this price point of over$100 a box, I would expect better quality and be able to install almost every board. Had I purchased this hardwood at Walmart, I would expect this lack of quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bruce - 3/4", 5" wide Oak Hardwood Flooring This is not a DIY product! In an effort to help my wife's allergies I wanted to remove the remaining carpet from the living area of our home. I purchased almost $3000 dollars worth of this product and the materials necessary to install. I read all the instructions including the PDF download from Bruce. The instructions for a southern climate required it be glued and nailed down. I purchased the specific glue from another source because HD did not carry it. The Oak boards were in my home for almost 2 full weeks prior to installation to allow them to adjust to interior conditions. Our home stays at approximately 50% humidity year round with the uses of humidifiers and our central heat and air system. Not only have the 5" wide wood boards cupped the floor actually has a huge hump in a couple of places. I called HD for help and they call Bruce and Bruce said it was an installation issue, not their problem. Because its been longer than 90 days HD won't do anything.
