Yes, there are 4 grades of Red Oak identified by the National Wood Flooring Association, or NWFA, and these are Clear Oak, Select Oak, No. 1 Common Oak, and No. 2 Common Oak.

Clear Oak has all of the color variations, is mostly heartwood, and has minimal character marks, while No. 2 Common has the most prominent light and dark contrast variations, knots, open worm holes, mineral streaks, and other prominent character marks. It comes down to personal taste, and I prefer the American Orginals Natural Red Oak by Bruce because it has all the beautiful color variations I appreciate without any open knots, fissures or wormholes.

American Originals Tinted Tea Oak 3/4 in. x 2-1/4 in. x Random Length Solid Hardwood Flooring (20 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This flooring still looks fastastic after over 10 years! I installed this natural red oak flooring in my 13' x 15' dining room over ten years ago and it still looks new, like I installed it yesterday! Extremely satisfied with this flooring and its durable hard finish. I used tar paper and a Bostitch pneumatic 15.5-Gauge flooring stapler with 1/2 inch x 2" staples. All you need to do is position the stapler against the edge of the flooring and give it a whack with the rubber-head hammer that comes with the nailer, and it pulls the flooring strip tight as it drives the staple. Took only 1 day, and this was the first time I had ever installed wood flooring.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Client was very unhappy with product quality Im a contractor and i bought this product for one of my customer. After the installation the customer moped the floor with a swiffer mop it was getting all stuck on a lot of splinter on the edges. Clien complains they can't even walk barefoot on the floor due to the splinters. She is really unsatisfied. I went to Home Depot and bruce, they just keep sending me back and forth to each other, neither of them try to do anything to help me resolve this problem. If could rate zero stars I would have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice flooring! This is the second time I have used this product. Both times, I found it to be great. Only 2 or 3 pieces out of several boxes were unusable because of natural splits in them. Great assortment of lengths. No pieces were too short. Plenty of long pieces to choose from for borders, doorways, etc. Very few bowed pieces, and I was able to use them even if they were bowed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good match to our original oak hardwood floors We installed these oak hardwood floors in the kitchen and dining room of our 1966 ranch that came with original oak hardwood floors in the adjacent front room. The new oak was a very close match to the original oak. The new floors have a glossy finish that we hope will dull with time, but otherwise they look great. Installation was typical. Nail down T&G. We used a felt/tar paper between the plywood subfloor and the new hardwoods. Some of the new planks were curved, but none were cupped. Sometimes the tongue or groove wouldn't be 100% but since they are genuine wood - you get some imperfections. We had ordered 10% more than we needed to account for this and it wasn't a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our new floors look and feel amazing! We recently installed hardwood floors in three of our rooms - all connected. My husband did the installation on his days off over two and a half months. He found the product easy to work with (he's very "handy") and the quality was consistent from box to box. We used a total of 29 boxes. I had purchased extra as recommended but ended up returning the extra. By the way - the return was easy! We have two Labs - they love the new floors and I love cleaning because their fur does not stick to the floors like it did to the carpeting. We had toyed with the idea with installing laminate and decided against it for a number of reasons. Do not hesitate to purchase this product - great price and excellent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful flooring! We bought this flooring to replace the carpet in our master bedroom closet. We couldn't find a color to match the wood in our hallways and main floor so we opted to go dark instead (at the suggestion of a Home Depot flooring employee). Great decision! The floor looks beautiful. The color is very rich and makes our closet pop! We are now considering replacing the carpet in our bedroom with this flooring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Went down easy, had minimal "cull boards", but did run into a few in one of the boxes that did not have the fm groove on the end of the boards. If you run into that, Set those aside for end peices and your fine. Finish is nice and does not seem to scratch easily under normal conditions installing or after a few weeks of medium/large dogs running around. Wife happy, life happy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from patch work I had an area on the kitchen floor to fill during a kitchen remodel. The original cabinets were built-ins, so no flooring under them. I bought the natural oak coming the closest in finish to orig. I only needed 1 box to build the floor where the cabinets were. They are not a perfect match. That's ok. It will be hidden with stove and fridge.
