Yes, there are 4 grades of Red Oak identified by the National Wood Flooring Association, or NWFA, and these are Clear Oak, Select Oak, No. 1 Common Oak, and No. 2 Common Oak.

Clear Oak has all of the color variations, is mostly heartwood, and has minimal character marks, while No. 2 Common has the most prominent light and dark contrast variations, knots, open worm holes, mineral streaks, and other prominent character marks. It comes down to personal taste, and I prefer the American Orginals Natural Red Oak by Bruce because it has all the beautiful color variations I appreciate without any open knots, fissures or wormholes.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolute Garbage Ordered 8 boxes of 2.5" and 16 boxes of 3.5". Returning all 24 boxes. Tongues are damaged, none of the boards are uniform in length. Went through all the boxes I ordered. More than 1/2 the wood is unusable. Huge waste of time. See photo of incomplete tongues and wood failing to lineup because they are not uniform in width. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This flooring still looks fastastic after over 10 years! I installed this natural red oak flooring in my 13' x 15' dining room over ten years ago and it still looks new, like I installed it yesterday! Extremely satisfied with this flooring and its durable hard finish. I used tar paper and a Bostitch pneumatic 15.5-Gauge flooring stapler with 1/2 inch x 2" staples. All you need to do is position the stapler against the edge of the flooring and give it a whack with the rubber-head hammer that comes with the nailer, and it pulls the flooring strip tight as it drives the staple. Took only 1 day, and this was the first time I had ever installed wood flooring. September 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality product with several longer boards in the case.. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality. It's good hardwood floor. But there is box damage when it delivery. May 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by patch work I had an area on the kitchen floor to fill during a kitchen remodel. The original cabinets were built-ins, so no flooring under them. I bought the natural oak coming the closest in finish to orig. I only needed 1 box to build the floor where the cabinets were. They are not a perfect match. That's ok. It will be hidden with stove and fridge. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by the whole family is happy :) Hi, I went in the the Windsor Home depot and was told I could not get the 2 1/4 in Canada so I bought 12 boxes in Michigan at a Home Depot there. it was about $350 extra than if I could have got it in Windsor. After buying the 12, I went back and spoke to a different support person, was told I could get it in Windsor, so I bought another 12. It was a bit frustrating and of course, cost me more when I was first told I could not get it in Canada at 2 1/4. I am just waiting for the delivery that was first promised the week of February 29. Soon it will come I hope. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Coastal Gray Hardwood Floor Great floor. We love it. It requires the floor to be prepared and then nailed and stapled. It takes more work than a snap and click floor. But we prefer the 3/4 hardwood without the extra work of staining and varnishing. Really like the product. Wish there was a few more longer boards. I understand it is random selection of boards. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Client was very unhappy with product quality Im a contractor and i bought this product for one of my customer. After the installation the customer moped the floor with a swiffer mop it was getting all stuck on a lot of splinter on the edges. Clien complains they can't even walk barefoot on the floor due to the splinters. She is really unsatisfied. I went to Home Depot and bruce, they just keep sending me back and forth to each other, neither of them try to do anything to help me resolve this problem. If could rate zero stars I would have.
