Hello Katie,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your hardwood flooring installation questions. For our solid hard flooring, the preferred installation method is to mechanically fasten. It is also recommend that for any plank over 4" in width to apply construction adhesive in a serpentine pattern on the back of the plank. You also have the option now if you choose to glue down as opposed to a mechanically fasten, to use the Summit all in one adhesive, as it contains a moisture barrier. For your convenience, I have included a link below for the complete installation guide. I hope this is helpful, if you have any more questions at all, please let us know how we can assist you. CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking distressed floor Great looking distressed floor when installed. I installed this floor myself and found it fairly easy to install. It would have been a breeze except I found planks varying up to an 1/8" in width which would cause a noticeable gap in some spots. I had to sort through some boards and use them in appropriate places to match widths with other boards. I installed about 350 sq ft. (15 boxes) and never had one board with the black filler that I read about in other reviews and actually saw on a display at our local Home Depot. I also purchased a wood stain marker (Homax brand) early American color and used it on a couple of scratches and the scratches disappear before your eyes. Works Great. I did find that Minwax stain in Provincial color matches on red oak pretty well when I stained a thresh hold for the slider. February 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice I Love the Grain and the dark color. Installed about 1400 sq ft throughout my downstairs and looks beautiful. Perfect for my two crazy dogs (Shepard and Lab mixes). The hand scraped finishing hides scratches, dents, and dog hair well (also gives the floor a very rustic/country feel). The price is great compared to what most flooring supply stores will charge you for a 5 in wide plank. Each case/box may be slightly different due to the grain, but that's what gives the floor some character. If you feel like you got a reject box, simply return that one and grab a new one. Like any product you may have a few planks that you may not like the grain (just save it for a closet). I recommend if you have dogs and don't want tile. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent looking flooring Flooring is easy to install and because of the scraping looks very good installed. Better looking than most pre finished flooring. December 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Random Dark Spots I love the floor but I agree with the other review. I didn't notice them at first but it looks like a scuff mark on the floor. We don't have very many but they are black marks about 1 to 2 inches. December 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! Just had this floor installed in foyer, living room and dining room. Floor is very nice! It has great variation and details! I would highly recommend this. Very little waste. Installer was very happy with the product. November 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice feel and quality but inconsistent color We had our floor installed by an outside contractor. He likes the quality of the wood and has commented that there is very little waste. The product feels nice under foot and does not have that consistent rippled effect (like waves) that you often find in mass produced hand scraped floors. My only complaint is that there are multiple, dark "stain spots (1/2') and streaks (2-3") that are on the wood. These do not show up in ANY of the Home Depot displays or on the website but they are absolutely part of the design for the distressed look. They are consistent through many boxes and there are 10-15 per room, i.e there are many boards per box that are dotted. If I had known about them, I would not have purchased this wood (although they are growing on me). My husband likes them because he thinks they add to the interest and the age - I think they look sloppy. October 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by looks great Easy install and looks awesome.stands up well to pets. January 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good for the investment I had the flooring delivered, which worked out perfectly. My carpenter said the installation was. easy to complete. I personally, don't like the sound of laminate or the feel under foot, but for the price of the flooring, I will learn to like it. July 7, 2015
