Answer:
I am not an expert on the installation, we had a contractor do it. What I saw them do is - they put down a plywood subflooring. They used a nail gun with an air compressor to shoot nails in to the sides of the flooring at an angle so it went through the side of the flooring and into the subfloor. You can not see the nails once the floor is installed. The boxes have detailed directions on them.

Answer:
Hi there! I'm sorry, but we do not recommend gluing down 3/4 solid hardwood. Hardwood boards need to be completely flat and straight in order to be glued. Gluing down a 3/4 solid hardwood that will have these natural minor imperfections would create up to 10% more waste. I hope this information is helpful!

What do the scraped edge/ scraped edges mean? In other words, how does this compare to a beveled-edge or square-edge plank?

Answer:
We bought this and had it installed. The edges are hand scraped meaning they are fairly uniform but not completely uniform. Each board is different and has it's own character. We have it in a large area, over 1000 sq feet and it looks great. Some of the edges show distressing or natural wood flaws. I am uploading a couple of pictures.

Answer:
The scraped edge are similar to a bevel, in that there is a small divet between each plank. However, it is not a smooth line, it continues the handscraped look of the floor. The bevel is handscraped and not smooth or straight. Where as a square edge is perfectly straight and smooth. Each plank butts up directly with the next, there is no "valley" between the planks.
I hope this information is helpful.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rustic Modern I love my floor..it is exactly what I wanted. I was looking for rustic modern at an adorable price and this fit the bill perfectly. My only caveat is that 25% of the wood was very blotchy when it arrived. It was really unusable and we did a lot of sorting..Home Depot exchanged the boxes and made everything right in the end and I am very pleased with the result. This is a rustic floor with a lot of natural imperfections including knots and worm holes. If rustic isn't your thing this would not be a good choice. If it is then you will likely be satisfied. It is a good value for 3/4" solid oak. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this floor We did our first floor which is open concept kitchen/dining & living rooms and foyer. We love it! We have a rustic/distressed theme and it fits in perfect. I can't really comment on the "ease of installation" because we had a contractor put it in. He didn't complain or mention it was tough to use though. After the floor was installed, the construction crew kept working and the floor took a beating. Good news is it cleaned up perfectly! We had to hand clean some paint and dry wall mud off it but it looks as good as new. It got a few small nicks and scratches during installation/construction but we touched them up with dark stain and you can't see them. The floor already has distressed and natural wood flaws in it, so after it is touched up you can not see the nicks. We have a dog and her nails so not leave marks. We have furniture on it with plastic on the bottom of the legs and they do not scratch it either. We love the color. It looks great in the sun light and at night in the lighting. We would buy it again! It will last a lifetime. November 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE our floors!! We had these installed by a contractor through Home Depot. We replaced our laminate wood living room and laminate tile kitchen with these floors and could not be happier! They are solid, beautiful, and extremely easy to touch up which is great because we have two young children. Highly recommend these floors! May 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a wonderfull REAL wood floor. The shipping was fast and they replaced the two broken boxes in 24 hours. Only a few pieces I were poorly stained or had broken edges. February 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by love these floors My husband installed and we love them had to get rid of carpet..love my new floors so far the dogs have not scratched them up they seem to be pretty sturdy. May 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Floor I just finished the installation, I choose my own GC as opposed to having HD install it. Our contractor and installation crew indicated that the install went quite painless and there were no surprises. After reading mixed reviews on the quality of Bruce/Armstrong floors, I have to say initially I am very pleased with my purchase. We had just under 500sq./ft. of in installed in our kitchen/ dining and living room including several stops leading to our foyer. The floor itself looks wonderful, very rich, warm and elegant. It has a very rustic and authentic look with not being overbearingly dark (blends well with dark and lighter furniture and decor nicely). I cannot sufficiently rate the long term durability of the product as it was just installed, but I can say that is very quiet. I personally feel that with the level of quality our GC's crew showed the install that the product will keep us happy for many years to come. October 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by American Vintage scraped Mocha Wow, what an awesome product. Installation was very easy. Anyone with little knowledge of construction should have no problem at all installing the floors. I read the reviews before purchasing and I seen one that talked about 10% waste and another 10% of the boards they were not able to use. My experience was not that at all. If I had 1% waste I would be surprised. The materials in the box were excellent quality and I would highly recommend for anyone to use it. I will use it again I the near future. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by we LOVE this floor!!! I realy hope they continue making this wonderful product... everyone who comes over is just amazed by how it has transformed our living / dining room. Could not be happier! June 10, 2014
