Answer:
This is a great floor! Because this is a 3/4 solid hardwood, there is not a required underlayment, however if there are low spots in the floor, you can use up to 6 layers of #15 builders felt to do so. The subfloor preparation will vary depending on what type of subfloor you have down, so I have attached a link to our 3/4 hardwood installation instructions below for your convenience. To echo a previous question - what really is the difference between the two: "Rustic" and "Country?" Is it a finish? A stain? Thanks for the help!

The pictures of these two floors are the same so I was wondering if they are the same color finish with different grades of wood or totally different stains.

Answer:
They are similar looks and the both of the floors would be a select grade wood. Since it is Hickory it will have the more pronounced dark and light boards which is part of the character of hickory.
I hope this information is helpful.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent overall... My wife and I decided to remodel our house and part of it was installing hardwood flooring. We decided on hickory based on the durability and multi-tonal appearance. We put the flooring in our family/dining room as well as our living room. Installation was fairly easy with the right tools and some YouTube videos. We purchased 10% extra for waste based on the recommendations on the Bruce website, however I would recommend more like 20% with this particular flooring. Many of the boards were fairly short, some also had machining damage, and also quite a few had heavy and deep pitting. Overall the quality is pretty good even considering these aspects. When planned properly and installed correctly, the appearance is very rustic and appealing. The feel under foot is very pleasant and it's resistance to damage is fairly high. March 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply Amazingly Floors!!! A couple of years ago I was doing some home improvements and I saw this flooring on display. I was completely blown away with the mixture of natural color(dark and light) so i decided to purchase some and try it in my hallway..It gave my hall so much volume that i would look at it over and over again.. Next was the den, this too had the same affect on my den..,Now I'm getting ready to do my dinning room.. Everytime someone comes over and see my floors .. Its alway the same "Simply Amazingly Floors" November 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Flooring This wood is surprisingly easy to work with, comes very well assorted (had 3 boxes) and almost no imperfections. Very solid wood so come prepared with the right gauge of tools for the job. May 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful floor We put this floor in our living room which has pine ceiling & massive mantle stained red oak also open & adjacent to the kitchen with hickory cabinets . This flooring goes with all the other woods plus it is beautiful on its own. It is the perfect choice for us & we love it. April 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is the 4th room we have put this floor in due to it's beauty and ease of installation. Our house has oak with water based poly in several rooms and this abuts to it. It really looks wonderful because of the variation in color. Each package has an assortment of lengths with very little waste. We keep doing more rooms because initially we had ordered 10% extra and really didn't need the extra with careful layout. We have bought more in order to complete more rooms. We finally have very little left over. The original rooms were done 2 years ago and they still look brand new with an occasional swipe with a steam mop. We are quite happy with the quality of this product. May 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase we have ever made for our home We purchased about 1400 sq ft of this wood and installed it about 3 months ago. Beautiful wood. Went down very easy with a very low rate of defect and went together nice and tight. We love the new floor. Solid and easy to clean. Every now and then we would find a board during installation that was slightly off with the milling (like slightly too wide or narrow) so we just cut it for an end piece or threw it out but that was unusual. Make sure you look closely at the board before you nail to be sure they are the same width it will save you taking them back out after you have laid down an area. Stinky old carpets are gone. This floor is solid and very durable. We put ours over #30 Felt Paper over 3/4 inch plywood with 2" L cleat nails. Great value. Great Product. We actually got ours for $3.49/sq ft through bid room August 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Like the floors a lot Had 1100sf installed a week ago by a flooring contractor. It looks very nice and gives a warm feeling to our house.Just make sure the installer is used to nail down pre-finished floors ours was not. Having few places nails showing through and partially defective planks installed. Bummer and there is not much that can be done after the installation is completed. July 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful and easy install Good product for the most part. Easy to install (installed about 1500 sq ft in my house). Looks awesome when done. Typically has 3 or 4 pieces per box that was missing most or all if the tongue or groove on ends were not milled deep enough. Other than that the quality is good. August 12, 2014
