Customer Questions & Answers

Does this floor require any undergarment of any kind?

Asked by: Anonymous
Do you mean underlayment? I put this product on concrete subfloor. I used an adhesive with a moisture barrier right on the concrete.

Does anyone know if this a smooth finish or if the grain shows some depth?

We are trying to match an existing wood floor in our home, that has visible grain depth.. We def want to continue this through out with the new floor. Can anyone tell me is this particular floor has grain depth?
Asked by: Anonymous
Bruce gunstock has some depth of grain but it is not as deep as the same named product we had installed many years ago.

Every board was straight and true and with a generous variety of wood patterns as would be expected from a real oak tree. My only complaint is that several ( 3-4 ) boards had knots that were very black and did not allow the finish to penetrate and uniformy cover the board. Since the knots were at the end of the board, I just cut them off and used the rest of the board. Overall, and excellent product that I will use again and recommend to others.

I bought enough for 2 12x23 foot rooms pot it down in September of 2015 by January 2017 it was showing places where the finish was coming off in both rooms.notified Armstrong and was told I would need to go through home depot notified home depot in February or March still has not been resolved. Every day the floor is getting worse I'm not looking for a new floor but the longer this keeps going on without being resolved I will need a new one. I will never buy an Armstrong product and I'm loosing faith in home depot. The floor was beautiful when it was first done but I was looking for something that would look good for years to come.

Also, the vanish treatment on same product is different. One box arrived completely open. Not even sure it was all there. took pictures. Some of the wood slats were not event close to the same product!! Not sure who does quality control, but definitely an opportunity for fine tuning shipments and make sure it's from the same stains. I have the open box in my garage....doen't even know what to do with it. Last time I had it shipped to the store and I refused the shipment as it was just as bad... not sure how Home Depot one of my favorite home stores is not on this better. Also looks like boxes had been previously opened!! HElp

This material was purchased to replace damaged existing hall flooring of the same material. Since this particular product has been out of stock for more than a year, I ordered more than needed in order to cover future contingencies. I ordered using the exact information and mfgr's codes from the original batch. The replacement flooring was professionally installed. The color of the new material is very inconsistent (much lighter) compared to the original installed 4 years ago. And the finish is entirely different (much more 'matte'). Now deciding whether to apply a new finish coat using tinted urethane to attempt a match to the original flooring sheen/color. More work... All in all, very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product has changed a bit My original flooring dates back 10yrs. I found that the new flooring I just purchased to do a small 5ft x 5ft patch repair was a bit different from the original. The finish of the newer flooring has less shine to it, and the grain detail was slightly darker. My installer also said the seams for connecting the boards were a bit different which resulted in the flooring not matching together perfectly. In order to get the flooring to match better appearance wise I had to buy paste wax and hand wax that section of the new flooring to make it less obvious that there had been a repair. Otherwise when the sun hit that part of the floor the duller finish and slightly different grain color were somewhat obvious. Luckily it turned out ok, but was surprised that the product was appreciably different.

I originally purchased this product from Lowes when they carried it but no longer due. I then ordered this to finish my project and repair water damage. It is made by the same company, same color, same dimensions but the quality was inferior to what I had originally purchased. I returned the product with no hassles. I would only use this below grade when nothing else is available.

The older stuff is of higher quality and has a much better finish on it. I was disappointed. If I hadn't had to match the color of what I had before, this would have been returned. It was easy to lay and the general appearance is decent, but I am one who looks closely. That view is not so good.

The flooring was good quality except for a couple of boards with incomplete grooves on the edge and some small edge chips. But overall I was satisfied. I installed about 150 square feet of this flooring with an 18 gauge stapler that I purchased from HD also. The finished floor looks great!
