Customer Questions & Answers

what would be installation cost?

I have 4 bedrooms and upstairs area that is carpeted now but I would like to go solid oak hardwood (distressed). There is carpet with pad that needs to be pulled up and taken away. The sub floor is painted OSB board that is in near new shape since it was covered with carpet since house was built. The total square footage is 1100. I would like a total for the product and the installation.

Customer Reviews

Oak Seashell 3/4 in. Thick x 3-1/4 in. Width x Random Length Solid Hardwood Flooring (22 sq. ft. / case) is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from It was an excellent product 2 years ago, but not anymore I had hardwood floor installed in 2 rooms in 2010. I used Bruce Laurel Oak Seashell CB530. It was an excellent product - good finish and good quality. The finish is still like new after two years. I would rate this product 5-star back in 2010. Fast forwarding to 2012, I purchased the same Bruce CB530 wood to remodel a large room. There are numerous quality problems this time: 1. Two boxes had water damage, HomeDepot ordered replacement for me. The two new boxes arrived with beaten up packages. A couple of boards were scratched or dented on the surface. 2. There are other problems in the remaining "good" boxes: multiple boards with tongue cut off, surface paint stain, server warp, etc. 3. In general, there are fewer long boards in the boxes, compared to my 2010 experience. Even worse, one box contains short boards only (12" or less). Another observation of quality decline over the years: One box package has an “aged” appearance. It could be a sign that this box of boards were made a while ago. However, the boards inside are in really good quality – many long and straight boards, similar to the quality of my 2010 experience. I am sorry to say that Bruce and its owner Armstrong have ruined a premium brand by neglecting its quality. I wouldn’t recommend this product until Armstrong gets their quality back. Sad!
