Do I still need to use an underlayment if my original floor is a commercial grade vinyl sheet floor? Can I keep the vinyl floor as the underlayment? If not can I just put the underlayment on top of the vinyl floor or do I need to remove the vinyl floor? What would it matter?

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 94 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love our new floor! We had this floor installed (via HD) in our living room. The floor looks beautiful. The installers did a fabulous job, taking their time to make sure the variation of the wood pieces meshed well. We bought 16 boxes, laid over a new plywood subfloor with an insulator in between the plywood subfloor and the hardwood. The variation of the wood grains are so interesting and have a ton of character. The quality of the wood is excellent. We didn't have any issues with broken pieces but we did have an extra box so when we got to the end we weren't left with a bunch of small pieces to finish the job. I couldn't be happier with our new floor. The only thing I wish is that we would have done it a long time ago!! I don't miss my old carpeting at all! The installers were absolutely wonderful, they were on time, professional, and take pride in the work they do. Bob and his team are truly the best! October 14, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad expierence all the way around I bought 12 boxes of flooring and over half of the pieces were short(8" to 15") long, which made it very difficult with planning the seams. For every long piece there were 15 short pieces. Very disappointed in a name brand product such as Bruce Flooring. September 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Hardwood Flooring I every Bought I bought 400' of Bruce Plano Marsh 3-1/4 Hardwood Flooring. When I opened the first 2 boxes, I was so shocked to see almost every board having worm holes, corners broken, splits in the wood and a good percentage of the tongues missing. I estimated that I could only use 10% of the wood versus 90%. The flooring is going back to Home Depot and I would never recommend buying Bruce Hardwood again! I have 18 boxes of flooring that I will have to lug back to Home Depot. I am so disappointed in this purchase!!! September 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Wood Flooring Easy to install and Looks Beautiful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a Beautiful Wood Floor. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Floor - Order a New Pallet to Avoid Open Boxes It was very easy to install this floor. The only issue I ran into was when I had to install this product on stairs: The problem is that you have to special order the stair trim (see my picture showing the end piece with the rounded edge). This special order piece was $49.00 and set me back a week. This flooring is great for rental properties (which is what i used it for). It's thick enough to refinish (when needed). Also, the boxes were pretty busted up in the store. Just like another reviewer said, I ordered a pallet of flooring from Home Depot to ensure that every box was perfect. May 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful flooring Did not look to see it is Random length, which would work best for smaller rooms. So, a bit more work than expected, but goes together nicely, and when finished, no one knows how many pieces there are. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful! Beautiful product. This 3-1/4" wide flooring purchase was for our large master bedroom. We had previously installed 2-1/4" wide in our 44 foot long kitchen/great room. Both rooms are now stunning! June 24, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed with the quality There were many warped pieces in most of the boxes. Some twisted. I tried to use the warp pieces as well as I could, because there were so many. I have approx. two thirds of a box left that are unusable. The product was also inconsistent in width and thickness. I had to spend a lot of time matching. Some pieces would be missing part of the tongue. When I was done, the floor looked very nice but there is a lot of movement and popping because of the poor quality. May 4, 2016
