Easy to set up and works great for smaller jobs. Took far longer than expected to shred. Expected to have to feed larger branches (3/4 of an inch plus) through the side feeder port. This was easy and fast. However it was the smaller branches that I thought could be pushed down the funnel that also had to be passes through the side port. This was extremely time consuming. Otherwise it worked great.

I would have given this a 5 star rating but for one of the blades already being broken when I received the machine. I contacted customer service in North Carolina and was promptly sent a new set of blades.
The chipper does a great job. It started on the second pull on it's first start. Since then it has started on the first pull. Be aware the fuel valve must be turned on or it just plain won't start at all. Don't ask how I know!
I've used it 8 or 10 hours and the blade is still reasonably sharp. Great machine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WyomingBuffaloGal Qualtiy product that is easy to use
The Brush Master CH8 Chipper/Shredder is well built. For a non-commercial chipper it is surprisingly heavy duty. It is easy to use, and makes short work of tree limbs. The leaf funnel is great for smaller branches and yard debris. (Small limbs can also be bunched together and put through the limb chute). The machine is safe to use, with various features to ensure against accidental injury. The resulting chips make great mulch. The chipping process is actually fun! The only draw back is the noise, understandable with the powerful engine. Wearing hearing protection solves this issue.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MH1953 Awsome machine
After sitting in a shed for the winter, I pulled the old girl out, checked the oil, filled the gas tank, and with one slow steady pull, it started right off! I worked it steady for about three hours, chipping green and dried branches without any problems at all. My only regret is that I did not purchase this machine earlier (although the current price is WAY below what I paid for it last year).
As I had written earlier, the combination hardhat with attached face screen and ear muffs are a must. I would also add that padded, anti-vibration gloves be worn as feeding some of the hard dried branches felt like a bad hit with a bat. The pile of chips from last year has composted nicely and this year's pile will be used as mulch.
You can't go wrong with this machine!

The assembly was quite easy. Just follow the directions and take your time and there will be no frustration. Filled it with oil and gas..... and it fired up on the second pull. What I read in the other reviews is certainly true, the discharge is extremely powerful and if you want to collect the mulch in a container, you're going to need something extremely heavy and have the top partly covered or it will blow right back out.
All in all, I'm very satisfied. It gets the job done and runs very well.

Holes in the exhaust chutes did not match and I couldn't screw one of the four to save my life try as much as I could. The vent tube was broken and I am still waiting for a replacement. So far no answer from GXI Outdoor Power who shipped the Chipper.

I have about 20 hours on this chipper so far and it's worked very well, easy to start, nice small chips, and it auto feeds well. My only complaint is that it is unrealistic, under normal operating conditions, to redirect the chips into a container. This was a disappointment. The air flow coming out of the chute is very high (like a leaf blower) so it just blows the chips out of most buckets or barrels. This means the chips get blown over a large area, which isn't a big deal for me, but could present problems for others. Do some research to find out how others might use the chute more efficiently if you need that capability.

Assembly was easy. So far it has been a work horse. My regret is that I did not get the next size up. While this unit chews up straight branches without effort, that is not how trees grow. And any straight branch has those pesky things called twigs that grow all over it, which have to be manually compressed to squeeze into the 3" feeder. I have lots of scratches on my arms that attest to my intimate contact with twigs and branches being compressed into the feeder.
But what this unit really needs is some kind of hitch. It has none and must be manually pushed around my acreage like a utility cart. Someone was not wearing his/her thinking cap when he/she omitted that little aspect in the design.
