After researching many chippers I decided on this unit. The feature that attracted me the most was to 360' adjustable discharge shoot. Most of the reviews I read stated that they had to clean out the machines that deposited the chips on the ground pretty much underneath the machine. I'm thinking "why move the chips twice."
Assembly was pretty easy. I recommend you do not tighten any of the bolts until they are all in place as the fit is exact. After assembly I filled it with gas, and added a quart of Mobile One 10 W-30 motor oil. To my surprise it started on the 1st pull. C'mon, that's impressive. So, I soon learned that the hardest part of using this chipper is moving it from place to place. Wish it had an attachment for a tow-bar so I could pull it with my lawn tractor, but the trade off for the discharge shoot was worth it.
The 2nd hardest thing about using this is not the machine at all, but in gathering up the stuff you want to chip. My advice, " spend a day gathering it all up, cut off as many off the small branches from the limbs as possible, make sure you wear the eye protection (comes with) and gloves. It's a workout to say the least, but it does everything I expected and then some. At this price, it works as well, if not better, then the closest model to it at $1,300. My neighbor is scratching his head!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KWchipper very effective chipper - a worthwhile purchase
I have used this chipper shredder for some months and am very satisfied with its performance. I have used other chippers that I consider a little more robust ( and more costly) and they would clog when fed too much leafy material fed in the leaf chute compared to the amount of woody material fed into the chipper chute. The design of this chipper really diminishes the probability of clogging the machine with leafy matter. However, the velocity of material at the output is high and the shredded material and chips can easily be scattered over an area of 10 or more yards. I like to have the shredded material in one pile so a frame with some burlap about 4 feet high and 8 feet wide placed about 6 feet from the output allows me to capture the material in a single pile.
I consider this unit a good purchase

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MountainUomo It was good for a while
In the beginning, self feeding did work, and it was easy to chip most branches, and yes, up to 3 inches in diameter. But after total of about 5 hours, self feeding was not working well, and it seemed to be the time to sharpen the blade. I don't think I put anything too hard. The rubber inlet part of the branch feeder fell off well within 10 hours of total use.
But the biggest problem is that it's so hard to gather chipped and shredded mulch because there is no built-in bag, unlike earthquake or tazz models. So the chipped wood pieces are all over my back yard. And it's very heavy to haul around, but the pulling or pushing it is not comfortably designed, so moving it is extra hard. The engine seems powerful, but consumes gas quickly.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DannyMack Adequate but a little ungainly to use.
Assembly was a little time-consuming but not difficult. However, the safety shield on the leaf-feed chute was not mounted correctly and had to be removed and re-inserted.
The motor starts and runs beautifully. It has a fly wheel starter so one pull is almost always adequate.
Mulches and chips well, and the resultant stuff makes great mulch.
Downsides: 1) The ground material debouches from a chute which spews with a fair amount of bluster, so a lot of it will not go into a bin or bag under the chute (a lot of it just gets blown out again). So you want to run it somewhere you want the mulch deposited or don't mind the mess. 2) the chipper has to be fed by hand, stick by stick. Highly crooked sticks have to be cut into smaller pieces. Also, though rated at 3" diameter, it really is only viable for straight branches of 2 inch diameter or less. 3) wheels are mounted on side opposite the push handle, which makes it awkward to wheel about, esp. on hillsides. 4) although safety shields are in place, operator MUST wear goggles. Fragments could fly back up the feed chute and might occasionally make it past the shield.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bowler125 Excellent Quality
Powerful and handles 2 & 3 inch branches easily and produces small chips.
You can aim and blow chips into a large can or container.
Leaf hopper handles leaves well but can clog if leaves are still attached to half inch or larger branches (hopper has a label that says leaves only).
Some difficulity during assemby getting holes to line up on lower shute.

I have used my chipper for less than two hours and it seems that the blades have become dull. I have difficultly in chipping even a 1 to 1 1-2 piece of wood. Also, it doesn't do a good job of self feeding anymore. I have to help it along. Haven't tried a three inch piece of wood yet. I assume it would have more of a problem with that size of branch. Unit was a good price, but not so good if it won't easily handle 1-2 inch pieces of wood.. If unit would perform as advertised then I would give the unit 5 star rating and recommend this product to others. Also, would be nice to be able to tow unit with my lawn tractor. Difficult to push over terrain in the areas where I use the unit .

Assembly not too difficult, just have to hold some of the plastic pieces in a bind while starting bolts. Had to go back to store to get oil, does not come with any. Pulling rope to start this large motor is quite a chore, but it started easily, 3rd pull. Biggest complaint is knowledge on choke, is 100% open or closed. I guessed wrong to start with. Using it on pine, it works great. And a tank fuel will last longer than you will.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Halifaxjoe Great shredder
This shredder started with the first pull. Assembly took about 30 minutes as I took it slow just so I didn't have to redo anything. All parts went together perfectly. Shredded for about an hour and everything went great. The bag/shroud that is shown on the web site shows it attaching to a garbage can. Make sure it's metal as the exhaust will melt a plastic trash can. The bag/shroud is too expensive so you might shop around. Good overall value and is a ver sturdy chipper.
