I've only had it for a few months, but I do admit I have not been paying attention to it that much the last few weeks.

Hi AW.
Thank you for your question.
When caring for a Ponytail Palm, it is best to ignore it!! This plant is actually a succulent (Beaucarnea recurvata). The Ponytail Palm requires dry soil. Too much water can damage the growth of this plant. It only needs to be fertilized 2-3 times a year. As a result, it requires very little care. Too much fertilizing will result in the browning the tips on the leaves.
The Pony Tail palm will grow best in a bright indirect light but it is a very forgiving plant and can handle lower light as well.
When you re-pot this plant, wait for it to be root bound first. Then pick a new pot that is only about 1 inch wider than its previous pot. Too much soil the pot can cause the soil to take in too much water and cause growth and health issues with this plant.
If your leaves are turning brown at the bottom of this plant, do not be concerned. This is normal. Just be careful not to over water this plant. This is the most common problem.
I hope this gives you a few good ideas about caring for your Pony Tail Palm.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

He didn't want to tell me at first, because my mom has a green thumb and thought she could revive it, but noticed there was cold-temperature damage to the tree and thought it would get better. She recognized it from seeing it other plants, and said the palms were a light green color in the center, but did her best to save it, because she can save any plant from near-death. She could not save it and it died, but realized that we were after the 3-day warranty and could not return it.

Got a credit. Came home to order a new one and the credit they gave me can only be used in the store. These aren't sold in the stores. Can't win with Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low maintenance! Love it!! I specifically bought this plant for my office to brighten it up. My office has no windows and only fluorescent lighting. My ponytail is loving it and really helps brighten my space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great and low maintanance I don't have a green thumb and this beautiful pony tail palm bonsai has grown so big and lush that I have had to trim it. It's super low Maintanance and I water it simply once a week but for humidity effect I simply place three or four ice cubes and it loves it. The water won't over flow or spill out as it melts slowly. It's a good purchase but I bought mine at the Home Depot store and for a less price. You will love it. It's Easy breezy and looks as if you have a green thumb and are great with plants. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful!! This tree came packed very well with lots of padding and sturdy box. Very healthy tree and is a nice size. I watered it to saturation when I first got it and plan to wait a month in between waterings. I've had it about 3 weeks and it is still looking just as beautiful as it was when I got it.

Bought this for my sister for Christmas and it was dead a day later despite our best efforts. The limbs started drooping, breaking off and turning brown. Extremely disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cats love the palm! I ordered 2 of them. Came in a large box with lots and lots of packing material. Palms were in perfect condition. One advice to new owners, water the plant with a spray bottle (spray directly into the dirt). I tried watering with cup and the water would rush to over the edge. After switching to spray bottle the dirt was able to aborb water much better. I bought these palms because they are cat friendly and since I got them my cats have been playing under and over them all day. Great price, and great product.
