How do I close the Ladder?

I had no problem opening the ladder. But,I have a big problem finding out how to close it for storage?
Asked by: Rennie71
Same here. Felt a little foolish. There is a silver colored clip under the top step. Unhook it and you can fold the ladder. The ladder doesn't fold easily, but the stiffness is relative to the sturdiness of the ladder. I can live with that.

Does the shelf hold a paint tray?

Within the last 20 or more years, ladder manufacturers want you to put a roller/ paint tray at the very top of the ladder. That is too close to the ceiling to be useful!! I want a ladder or step stool that puts it back where old ladders used to have it!

So I saw this ladder and read the reviews and thought it would work great for my basement. I loved the shelf as I have shelves in my basement and would help with putting stuff away and avoid going up and down more than needed. But my husband used this shortly after getting it to hang a portrait on the wall. He weighs around 150 lbs and this ladder was NOT sturdy. I thought it would have no issue holding him since it is supposed to hold around 300lbs. I returned it yesterday as I did not feel it was safe for anyone to be one.

The step stool/ladder works mostly as expected, except it is surprisingly wobbly, even on the first step. For a step-stool with a 300lb capacity that was pretty surprising. I (unfortunately) weigh 265 so needed the extra high capacity, but still surprising how wobbly it feels. It holds me up but definitely need to remember to stand as close to the center of the steps as possible otherwise it feels like it will tip over. Opens and closes fine, and does close down to a pretty narrow width, such that I am able to store it between the wall and my fridge, so it's near by when needed. Was also disappointed that one of the rubber stops on a leg was split along the side. Did a temporary repair with duct tape but strange it was like that for a brand new product.

The wider steps allow me to feel much more confident to deal with things that are out of my reach. However, I have two problems with it. I have linoleum tiles on my floor. I found that when I take the first step, the ladder slides from where I place it. That is annoying because I have to then re-place it on a spot that includes a sliding calculation. My other issue with is that it is VERY difficult to open and close. It does not have the hinges that ladders in the past had. When I finally, after much exersion, got it open I couldn't get it to close. I actually thought I'd have to utilize it in my decor somewhere as a plant stand. I believe this particular problem is possibly do to it being new and that with time, and a lot of exertion, it will get looser. I hope so. I did have to ask a friend to close it for me.
