This was one of the stores daily "special purchase" products and I could not pass it up. The wide steps and being able to hold on as you step up made me feel safe. I am an older lady and not as steady on my feet as I use to be and overweight. I was looking for something that would make it easier for me to do things for myself rather than have to wait for someone else to get around to doing it for me. I recommend this for anyone that feels the same. You will never need to purchase another. The only thing is it is pretty heavy. I did not consider that but would have purchased anyway. This is also really good for changing light bulbs with the way ceilings are these days. The tray is a nice plus.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MountainWoman Best step stool ever
Very strong design. I'm over the usual limit of 250Lb and getting older so I searched for a strong and safe step stool and this is the best I found and it is only sold at Home Depot. Very pleased, sturdy feel when I stand on it,the high handle or bar at the top is a huge safety feature no other brand has. The step area is wide, the tray at the top is wide and very useful for tools, paint, etc. Slightly heavier than the flimsy ones but sturdy is what I needed. I feel very safe on this model and expected to pay more for this.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by FormerAustinGirl The verdict is still out
Considering this ladder has a 300 lb rating it does not seem very sturdy. I have used it with no problem, but then I weigh less than the 300 lb limit. When looking at the steps all that appears to keep them attached/in place on the ladder frame are small, light weight connectors and the folding mechanism. Also, the steps have some "give" in them, probably for comfort, but after viewing how little actually supports them, the "give" makes me a little nervous. Like I said the verdict is still out on this ladder.
A couple of good things is that it is lightweight to carry, folds very flat for storage and the top shelf is great for holding tools, etc.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Annie13 At last ... a sturdy stepladder!
Thanks to this excellent stepladder, I can now perform household tasks without worrying about being on a flimsy stepladder. Most of the time I just need a boost of a couple of feet so it is perfect for changing high lightbulbs and getting things off the top shelves and also being able to dust those higher shelves. It has a sturdy rail to hold onto. I have recently bought several home maintenance products from Home Depot to help make my life easier and safer. I am really pleased with this one.

This is a great in-house mladder. Takes up a very small storage space and fits almost everywhere. I love it........

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SanAntonioGal A decent purchase
Using double-faced carpet tape, I adhered non-slip rubberized material (open-weave, like we use to line shelves) to each tread because I don't consider it non-skid enough without these add-ons. Also, and this isn't the fault of the ladder - I should have researched more in-depth before ordering - I was disappointed that, where I have 9-ft. ceilings, on the top step I am not close enough to safely reach my HVAC filters (I am 5'5"), so I am still having to drag out my utility ladder for that task, which is scary when I am home alone. (For the information of others, that uppermost step is 28" above the floor.) And like other reviewers, I agree that it's kind of a pain to have to use two hands to open it (but refolding it is a one-hand operation). So it's a keeper, but I was hoping it would replace my ladder, which it does not. It feels more secure than a regular ladder, but for me, doesn't reach quite high enough.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Gladys Decent, sturdy ladder, but the shelf isn't handy
We purchased this particular ladder because it has a tray/shelf to set things on. We thought this would be handy in our kitchen so that things could be set on the shelf and then moved into or taken down from high storage without having to bend down to the counter. What I didn't realize is that the shelf is the same height as our kitchen counters, thereby defeating the purpose of having a shelf to set things on. The shelf at counter height also means if the step ladder is placed facing the cabinets, it's far away and we have to stretch to reach into the cabinets. We were also a bit annoyed that it's not obvious how to open the ladder. Once you figure out to pull the shorter legs out it works fine, but some instruction on the ladder would have been nice. It's a solid, sturdy ladder and I like that it has a higher weight limit. I'm sure it's a fine ladder for general household use, but it's not ideal as a kitchen step ladder.
