CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High quality These are precisely machined pine doors, and only needed a very light sanding to prepare for priming. For unfinished interior pine French doors, these are about as good as you could get. Slab doors by nature just aren't easy to install. If you can't spend the time or effort making absolutely sure that the jambs are plumb within 1/8th of an inch, top to bottom, you will have problems getting these to hang right. But, that won't be the fault of the doors, which are square and true. They also have a pre-bored hole in the top of the door which could accept a ball-type catch. If you want to use this hole, just make sure that you don't attach your hinges on that side. The plastic film on the panes made it easy to paint. So, for slab doors, these allowed for a relatively easy installation. My only minor complaint is that every pane of glass is marked with 'Xingfu Glass Tempered 16 CFR 1201 CII'. But, it's not obvious. I used knobs and backplates original to our 1920 house, and new hinges, ball catch and a surface bolt in oil-rubbed bronze from HD. These doors were installed in the entrance to our sunroom, replacing the original doors which had been removed by a previous owner. We're very pleased with the way they fit with the craftsman style of the house and nearly match the original 16-pane casement windows. July 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by French Doors The doors come without hardware or predrilled for hinges or knobs, which is fine. But they are quite challenging to get lined up straight. The painting was very nice that both sides had plastic covering the glass, but that plastic was really tough to peel off, it may have been better to mask vs having the plastic stuck under the glass. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Take care, you might get lucky Installed just off the entry of our house, this 10-lite door looks beautiful compared to the old solid door it replaced. But a couple of caveats you should know about. For one, on our unit the two top lites are 3/8" different in width at the top, but equal at the bottom edge. (I know, because we cut Gila frosting film to apply to them). In other words, they are not square. One lite tapers toward the top, while the other gets wider. The center mullion visibly leans away from vertical. From this, I infer that these are not true divided lites. Probably it's just a big sheet of glass, sandwiched between simulated mullions laid over its surfaces on both sides. This really ought to be made clear, since if a glass break occurs, an individual lite can't be replaced. We joked that this unit was made on a Monday, when the workers were still bleary-eyed from maotai. Second, the milled pine surface had two severe blemishes, on lower portions of the stile on opposite sides. The blemishes looked like very thin grain getting torn or burnished from the milling process, in a way that appears damaged rather than random. These blemishes we disguised with fairly dark stain, making them darker than the surrounding areas. My wife loves the final appearance of the installed door. But if we were doing it again, I would rather pay up for a true divided lite door with better quality. These slabs are a great value in terms of low price. But the quality is marginal enough that some buyers just won't be able to accept it. We skated through by the skin of our teeth. September 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks nice Price was good and it was easy to install. I would have stain the doors, but had to paint it white to match others. January 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wood blistered after priming The doors looked great upon first inspection. When I primed them and allowed to dry, the wood blistered...literally pulled apart from the other wood as if it was a veneer. These doors are sold as solid pine doors. I had them primed by a professional painter since I was putting in our new home, he says this blistering/areas pulling away from the wood is not that unusual. He said it is the nature of some pines. He had to take a knife and remove the blistered areas....about 6 places on the two doors , patch with wood putty, sand and prime again those areas. I just think paying $138 each, that this should had not happened and cause extra work. One door turned out to be bowed and didn't close evenly with the other once hinged. I've tried to be honest and not to ugly on the review. I would recommend but want to warn you what you may have to do to get it in final form. March 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great doors, but not all are the same size. I found this out the hard way when I tried to match up the door knobs. Just measure the panels on each door if you will install two together French-style. They may not be the same. Thankfully I was installing multiple sets and was able to go back and find a match for the odd sized one. I needed 21" for 42" French doors, and they were easily ripped down from 24". (joined wood a little rough on the inside, but I was painting them so no problem.) Love the plastic film on the panels-great for spraying or brushing. February 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absoluting the best quality French door Because we have white molding and trim, I had to paint this door white, but the wood was such wonderful quality that it would have looked great with a light stain. The easiest part of installation was painting it. The door had plastic wrap on both sides of the tempered glass and was so easy to remove with a razor blade, after painting. The hardest part was the mortising for the hardware, which my husband handled like a pro. The new french door leads to the cellar and adds dimension to our long narrow dining room. We put in wine racks between the stubs in the stairwell, exposing the old brick and it is perfection! Oh, I need to add that the door was made in the USA! November 6, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product I am single. My kids are grown and I have no life so I will review a door. I ordered it online and when I went to pick it up it was the only one left and had oil stains and a few small chips. So make sure yours is in good condition. They did give me 10% off though. With that being said its a good door. Easy to install. My son in law cut it to size using a table saw and circular saw. He chiseled out the mortices within minutes. Once I painted it and removed the plastic covering the glass it looked great. Its the perfect solution for a door between a sunroom and kitchen. Lets in tons of light. I sealed it with weather stripping and a door sweep and it holds cold air out pretty good. January 19, 2015
