Hello, Do these Builders Choice doors have a single prebored hole for the knob and lock mechanism? Or does it require boring out the hole for the knob?

Does this prehung door have a solid wood jamb or veneer jamb? I may need to shave some off the edge to fit an irregular wall, so I need a solid wood jamb.

I installed the door myself. I needed to cut a small amount off the bottom to clear the carpet. I stained the door prior to installing it. I chiseled a small section near the door knob to allow for the strike plate. A router would have made this step much easier. I love solid core doors. This one looks great and it matches my furniture!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great. Fair door for the price. Wood was "clean" with minimal to no marring to fix, door wood matched frames and feels solid, and easy to install. One embossed panel was not inserted squarely into the door, which is impossible to fix and wasn't noticed until hung. Bummer, as it probably isn't worth uninstalling to return, but will forever bug me. 3 star rating based on quality control.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I purchased three doors, two of which were packaged and protected for transport. The third door looks as if it was a floor demo and was not protected and came to me dirty and banged up. Unfortunately these doors were sent on a barge to Alaska and could not return the one door. The other two doors are just fine...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good solid door I bought and installed four of these doors, staining three and painting one. They all look great in place. They have solid jams and were very easy to instal. There were some minor dings on the surfaces, which might have been avoided with better packaging. There was some separation of one of the mullions from a rail, but it did not affect the structure. One door width had brass hinges while another had nickel, so prepare to buy your own hinges if color is important.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good value. Go to a building supply store and pay the extra for a real solid core door, it'll cost you the difference in installation, unless you really don't care about the way the door works. The stoppers are glued in place and you'll never get a good closing. Several where pinched so badly on the hing side that the door wouldn't close, now there is no stopper at all on the hing side. I took a lot of grief from my installers about this and I'll pay again when the finish carpenters show up to complete the job.
