Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great doors. Excellent craftsmanship. Price - OK. These doors were made from top-notch pine with absolutely no blemishes. The accuracy of the workmanship is 2nd to none. They were packed so as to protect during shipping to a fairly good degree so there were no dings, scratches or marks whatsoever. Price was OK (not on any sale). Another company had a great sale but Home Depot matched that price over a week later when I showed them the other ad. Now the price was great, also. March 20, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Home Depot and Jeldwen need better quality control I have installed well over a thousand doors as a professional trimmer. Quality control at the door factories must have taken a hit as a result of companies leaning hard on accounting to improve the bottom line. All 3 doors that were recently picked up from HD had quality issues that show a lack of quality control. Poorly mortised hinges, separated joints where header and jamb leg are connected, missing hinge screws and no edge bevel were problems I found on all the doors i recently installed. All of these factors would have caused a weekend warrior type problems with installing the doors. March 5, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as the ones I bought at HD maybe 8 years back. I thought these were of the same manufacturer when I bought 5 interior doors for our downstairs about 8 or so years ago. I stained them with Minwax Fruitwood and rub on poly and they came out pretty good IMO. Turned out the manufacturer was Masonite. I just bought 8 at HD and the manufacturer is Jeld-Wen. Of the 8, 2 had to be returned for defects. On one, a veneer strip was unattached and I probably could have glued it but then I noticed a chip out of the door. You couldn't see the chip until you removed the top packaging which you can't do in the store. On another one, the complete up-down edge on the off jam side of the door was defective. It looked like they forgot to add the veneer strip and finish it off. This you also couldn't have seen until you remove all packaging and swing the door out. On another one (which I kept) after I installed it, the wood veneer was seperating from the frame. I managed to glue it and would have returned it but I figured the glue will hold - I didn't feel like taking it down and returning it. I tried Watco Danish wood stain (medium walnut) and the result is less than satisfactory. I don't think the oil stain is the problem but more so, the wood pieces the door is made from. It doesn't cover enough and all the different pieces of wood look unattractive. Grain is different directions, knots, different grains (slab, end etc.). These are the exact types of doors (6 panel) that I bought before so I don't know if Masonite was bought out by Jend-Weld or not but there seems to be a quality control issue at least with my experience. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Junk Bought two of these doors for a remodel project. They arrived busted up so I sent them back. The second set arrived with many flaws. i.e. The joints are not mortised so they are fastened with plastic L-Brackets. One door was missing the bracket on one side resulting in it being very flimsy during installation. The trim inside one of the panels has a piece broken off of it. The veneer is peeling off and bubbling in one spot. The veneer is used to hide many structural flaws. One door is cracked all the way through, and is glued back together. Save your money do not buy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking door; easy to install This is a great door, very easy to install. Ordered online and it was delivered in about 10 days. The door took stain very well (MinWax water based stain), and completely changes the character of the room from the plain painted slab door it replaced. April 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worse quality ever Wish I had read the earlier reviews. The wood quality is extremely poor: different grades, different grains, etc. I applied stain and now the door is a total mess since even after I carefully hand-sanded the wood, the stain covered unevenly due to the wood variations. Also, there is something wrong with the way the pre-hung door hangs. My handyman has spent a lot of time, at my expense, to try to keep the door square/straight so it doesn't swing out when not latched. This is the only wood door I've ever purchased from HD and I could not be more disgusted with the wasted time and money. I may try to return the product after speaking with my handyman. June 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by These doors are complete junk! To begin with I am a professional carpenter and tradesman and have installed many doors in my life. I purchased 5 of these doors for a home remodel and they all looked nice until unwrapping them and starting to install. Like a previous installer posted there were screws in the hinges missing and they were not even inserted straight. Many of them were stripped and had to be fixed. Every door had missing screws and stripped hinges!! A few of the doors were not even square - glued together incorrectly from the factory. Returned them and received new ones - I made the employees open up every door and the other ones that they had in stock had missing screws as well. I took the best ones they had and had to fix the hinges before installing. Many of the do it yourselfers would have a difficult time getting these to work properly. I would not recommend these doors. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Four of five pretty good Doors and trim in my home were faux painted and I wasn't crazy about them, so I've been slowly replacing hollow doors in my house with solid pine ones. These doors are usually pretty nice, I've installed four of them and on my fifth one now. I've had some issues with one, see pictures below. I plan on seeing if home depot will warranty it for defects. January 31, 2012
