Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CaveMan Nice replacement shutters
Delivery was excellent and all the material was included. The louvered shutters were a bit more flimsy than I expected, but once they are mounted with the six plastic retainers, they look very nice on the front of the house. The louvered style is more appealing than the flat panel type we had before.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kenbythesea Durable, excellent value
I bought 3 pairs of these shutters 3 years ago to replace wooden ones that required painting every several years. I live by the sea and the weather can be harsh at times with wind gusts to 70 mph. Had my doubts about their durability since they seemed rather flimsy but they have held up through the worst conditions so far. Used the included mounting fasteners with no problem but suggest care in mounting. I mounted them on the side that faces the bay and they still look like new. They have also been very heat tolerant during the summer. I am now ordering 6 more pairs for the rest of the property. An added surprise is the bats (yes bats) don't nest behind them for some reason. The value and appearance of this product is above expectation. Couldn't be more satisfied.

If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive shutter replacement that will last (I expect) virtually forever, this is the way to go. Obviously, size needs will vary for individual applications...so assuming you've found the size you need, let me comment on the product itself:
I purchased the 'paintable' version for two main reasons: (1) I really didn't want the shutters to look like plastic...so painting them gives them the look of wood (matching the remaining shutters on my house), and (2) the 'white' version simply wasn't white enough to match my other shutters. (Unless you're replacing ALL your shutters, the 'paintable' version is the way you'll want to go for 'color matching' purposes...let alone if you should wish to change colors in the future.)
These are light and almost 'cheap' looking out of the package, so be ready for this feeling if you decide to purchase these. That said, they do the job very well. The grain molded into the plastic makes them indistinguishable from real wood and, once painted, I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between these and a real wood shutter just by looking at them. Plus, because of the plastic material used, the slats won't be warping over time so they should continue to look good for a long, long time.
One caution: You'll have to be a little creative and handy in determining how to fasten these to your house. It's fairly easy to figure out an alternative solution to the fasteners provided (which are plastic and appear to me like they will not hold well in a storm, despite requiring drilling of several fairly large holes into the house). I personally wouldn't trust the large plastic 'screws' that come with the units. But again, determining an alternative fastening method for your personal needs isn't all that difficult.
My own need was to replace a single pair of old wood shutters that were falling apart. Without a doubt, I will be purchasing these for the rest of my house (assuming I can get the right sizes) over time as the need arises. I wish they came in sizes wider than 15" (maybe 18-24") but for the most part, these fit the bill.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ABQcustomer Did not work for our application
We must mount our shutters on ribs that run vertically on our house, not directly to the siding. We have great concern that these shutters would not last during our windy season (gust greater than 40 mph) due to the style of the construction of the shutters (they are just a shell with no back support).
