How does this attach to 3" siding?

This question is from House Number Kit #001-White (Black Numbers)-DISCONTINUED

I have the 3' vinyl siding and need to know how this will attach to it. Do you have to cut out existing siding to install or does it attach to the existing siding? Also are the numbers, letters that are included with this kit, vinyl? I have some brass numbers and was wondering if these could be attached to this mounting block.

Thank you for your interest in our product. The block needs to be installed prior to your siding. You existing siding would need to be removed from the area that you would like to install the block. Numbers are included but you use your own.
