Customer Questions & Answers

how much water is needed for a packet of expresso coffee

Asked by: abnermisael
Hello. There are a few variables involved in a useful answer to this question. However, it first should be noted that unless an espresso machine is being used, the beverage produced will not be true espresso, regardless of the coffee type and grind being brewed. That being said, the ratio of water is based on the weight of the coffee. While adjustments for taste are recommended, 1.5 ounces of coffee (by weight) can be brewed with 32 ounces of water. While this is only a half-pot of coffee, this formula may be the most helpful in this case, if it is that this very finely ground coffee is being used in a drip coffee brewer. With a fine grind, regardless of the volume of coffee used, it is important to keep the brew time under four minutes, with the total water contact time being tweaked down closer to one minute as the grind is made even more fine. Brewing in a small batch will help affect this result. Thank you for your question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Coffee Brewer I have two issues with this brewing system. The first is it does not have an automatic shut-off feature but I knew that at the purchase. The second is you don't get pots with it and you don't really know that unless you read the fine print on the website but you learn it very quickly when the machine arrives. I had to purchase the pots from another source because they were not available from Home Depot Online or my local Store.
