Columbines may be started early indoors in seed starting formula, or direct sown in the garden. If you are sowing indoors we recommend 8-10 weeks before your last frost and transplant seedlings after all danger of frost. Just cover the seed lightly and keep moist until they germinate. In Massachusetts you can sow columbine early indoors in the winter and transplant out in the spring after danger of frost, or direct sow in early summer in the garden. Happy Gardening.
