Rated 5 out of 5 by Getting One For My Mother In-law :) I've owned this unit for about a year now and let me tell you..it's a hit in my house. My In-Laws love it so much they visit just to use it. I've done a few turkeys, several whole chickens, chicken wings, large batches of fries and fish. Notice I listed fish last. After you cook fish be sure to clean the unit and label the oil properly. In terms of performance this unit is awesome. As a teen I worked at a little food stand on the beach. I used restaurant grade deep fryers and this unit reminds me of those good times. You've got to plan your meals properly though. For instance if dinner is at 5pm make sure the unit is setup and filled with (peanut oil :) by 3pm. Turn the unit on and allow the temperature to ramp up 45 mins - 1 hour. As long as you plan ahead your going to enjoy this unit for years! P.S. I've been having bad little thoughts of making homemade donuts and fried dough :) August 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best turkey wins. I bought this in 2013 to cook the turkey dinner, not only I cook one turkey but two in two different homes, and both came out great. I don't have one bad word to say for this product and to you folks that do, must not have done something right. Its easy to clean just like it says and safe to use in the home, but you still must use common since as you use it inside the home. December 14, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Works as adertised I wanted to fry a turkey for two main reasons: because it tastes so good and I wanted to free up my oven for making side dishes. I purchased this fryer over the traditional propane systems for several reasons: (1) safety: There is no open flame and that eliminates 99% of the danger in frying a turkey. (2) size: It's big for a deep fryer, but smaller and easier to store than a traditional fryer and propane tank. I have a gas grill so I don't need a propane tank. Didn't want another thing to store. (3) indoor cooking: I cooked my turkey indoors, which was great for obvious reasons. Plus it was raining and snowing on Thanksgiving so I wouldn't have been able to fry outside with a propane fryer even if I wanted to. I fried a 15lb turkey for my 2014 Thanksgiving dinner. I brined the turkey for 10 hours, patted it dry, and then left it out for two hours to bring it to room temperature. I used 3 gallons of peanut oil, which took about 45 minutes to heat up. The turkey took about 50 minutes to cook and it was the best I've ever made. Very juicy with crispy skin. Some people think that fried turkey will turn out looking like KFC. No. The reason fried chicken is so extra crispy is because it's breaded. So don't be a fool. You're not making a "Popeye's Turkey." I let the oil sit in the unit until the next day for the sediment to settle and then drained the oil and strained it through cheese cloth. I got back about 2.75 gallons of the oil back. Not bad at all. If you keep that in a cool place it will last months. Once I got the oil out it was easy to clean. The spigot for draining the oil was very helpful. You still have to have a game plan and be organized, otherwise you'll make a mess. The peanut oil does have an order but it's not unpleasant, especially when the turkey starts cooking. I cracked a window and it was fine. No one mentioned the smell of the oil and it was gone later that night. Many people complain about the cord: It's short and connects to the unit magnetically, and disconnects easily if the cord is strained. It is annoying, but you can use an extension cord. However, the cord was designed this way for safety reasons--to prevent someone from tripping over the cord and pulling the unit off the table, which would be total disaster and could seriously injure someone. So if you're going to use an extension cord be smart about it--don't put it over a place where people are going to walk, especially kids. Overall I am very pleased. I will use this in the coming summer for parties to make fried chicken french fries. It's not something you're going to use all the time, but even If I used it once a year it would be worth it. The turkey was the best. November 28, 2014
