I've tried a number of different peppered suet cakes before to keep the squirrels off my feeder and this is the only one that really works. When I changed over to Hot Pepper Delight I was treated to a good laugh too - our resident gray squirrel thief climbed up to get some and on taking a bite was visibly distressed, holding his mouth open with a wild look in his eyes. Never came back after that. It's good stuff. And our birds love it too, especially the woodpeckers. We now have a beautiful pileated woodpecker that comes to the feeder for a daily mid-day snack.

The reduced rate for purchasing a whole box (12) is helpful to us bird lovers.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Scott Squirrels won't touch it, but neither will the cardinals or the blue jays
My biggest concern was the squirrels eating this since I have a bunch of them in my yard. The good news is that the squirrels don't want anything to do with it. The bad news is that neither do the cardinals or blue jays. There was a black (grackle or something like that) bird that picked at it once, but that was about it. I live in South Florida and I don't see many small songbirds around, so maybe they would like it more. The price was low so no big deal.
