I have a floor drain that is 5.5 inches in diameter. It had the old style round cast iron grate with upside down cup that fit in the drain so when it had water it worked as a trap. The part of the trap that was in the floor that the cup and grate fit into has rusted and fallen away, so there is no trap and no vapor barrier. I am getting sewer smell from the drain. So, I know that it is 5.25 inches in diameter, will the wing nut stretch out the o ring to fit the 5.5 inch hole and will that plug the hole so that it keeps the sewer gases from filling my basement? It doesn't need to take care of pressure either water or air, I just need a vapor barrier.
